For those who prefer to stay at a budget and spend most of their money on travelling, sightseeing and food, Casa Paradiso is the perfect place in Panjim. In fact, for location alone this hotel could be a first choice even for mid-range travellers. Just read a few of the reviews and I find some of them extremely harsh. Regarding having to climb a set of stairs to reach the reception (hardly 9-10 steps), how would these people cope with 5 star rated hotels such as Broadway in Darjeeing? Steep set of stairs at Broadway and that too after a steep climb from the road itself. Regarding not having an elevator, com'on people. The pricing of this hotel screams "Budget". How many amenities do you expect at a budget hotel? An elevator, bell boys, swimming pool? Here is my side of the story, booked it via MakeMyTrip for 24th to 26th October and got a discounted price. Reached there, I found the staff very helpful and friendly (perhaps being friendly myself did the trick, after all they are also human beings). They did not have restaurant but there is a restaurant called "Cafe Prasad" right next door so no problems. I used it for morning tea and breakfast. Someone people said no WiFi or WiFi did not work. For me the WiFi worked great and had good speed. Someone also said Airtel network was not there, I was in room 202 and had full network. Maybe there are issues for other rooms. The room was quite spacious, bathroom was clean and had everything in order. Geyser worked so no complaints of hot water. They provided chilled filtered drinking water whenever asked for unlike some hotels where the daily cap is 1 or 2 bottles a day. Room had TV, a table and a chair, a wardrobe, bedside table, window AC and ceiling fan. Clean towels were provided. Bed sheet looked old and used but was thoroughly clean. Did not have itching or other problems at all. This hotel is located at a perfect location, 1 minute walking distance from Central Church and the heart of Panjim. Everything you need as a person is available there, a host of good restaurants, auto stands, pilot (bike taxi) stands, souvenir shops domino's and so on. It is 5 minutes walk to the riverside from the hotel where the cruises are located. This hotel has its own cruise although we did not avail it. Security was excellent as the main door closes at 11. If you arrive after that, ring the bell and door is opened for you. They were caring too as two Iranian girls were in trouble without much money and had to travel to Delhi. The hotel staff arranged for their train ticket and looked genuinely concerned. I docked 1 star only because the fan worked fine only at full speed and the AC has no cooling adjust control. It did not bother us as it was hot but can be an issue in colder weather. Someone said they saw lizards but we did not see any cockroaches, lizards and other insects during our stay. The hotel has its contacts for bike rentals. Rooms were thoroughly clean when we got in and they will clean it if you tell them. All in all a great experience. Will stay there again when I go to Panjim,…
