A good value for the money in a good location. 10 minute walk to beach, bars and restaurants. Kitchen/common area great place to make new friends and get good information as a new arrival. Most important, this place has integrity. Sophie was so kind, understanding and helpful. I left my GoPro camera on the bed above mine when I checked... More

good vibes this place is! the woman who manages the place is so great. my friend and I stayed for a week, the dorm was nice enough for the cheap price. the floors are slightly dusty and not a lot of natural light. the locker system was not the most user friendly. however those small things aside, its such a... That hostel was really nice, mainly because of the way the owner (a Spanish lady) treated her guests. The rooms were all right, they could be bigger or at least with less people inside. Internet connection was good compared to other places in the Island (optical fiber)

Having found this hostel in the lonely planet guide, we thought that this would be a nice budget hostel to stay in one night. However the person working there was incredibly rude, short and uninformative. Not only where the various spiders to be found on our mattresses but the pillows and bed sheets were a palling quality. Our room was... More

I came to Roatan as a traveler, and on the first day I fell in love with its amazing beaches and the richest reef that I've ever seen. After losing my credit carts and with no money, I found refuge volunteering in Buena Onda hostel ran by a Spanish party girl, Sofie, who was as pretty as a flower and... More

All of the good reviews about this gem are true. The rooftop deck is amazing, the kitchen large and well-equipped, There are his/hers bathrooms with nice sinks and it's a short walk into the West End. Sophie and staff are helpful and kind and the hostel seems to attract a certain type of traveller: friendly, outgoing and inclusive. The only... More

We stayed at Buena Onda on our last night coming back through Roatan, and I wish we had booked it on our first leg as well! It is beautiful, just off the main strip and everyone was super friendly. Certainly the best way to meet amazing people and enjoy the relaxing nature of the island. There were kittens, what more... More

Hostel La Buena Onda was one of the most incredible hostel experiences I've ever had. Sophie the owner is fantastic, and helps you with whatever you may need. Sophie and Alvaro (the guy who helps out with the hostel) are extremely helpful and make you feel at home as soon as you walk in the front screen door. Not to... More

I recently traveled to Roatan for a quick break from graduate school demands back in the states. Being a student, I researched budget accommodations and booked a bed at Buena Onda about 5 weeks in advance- and I'm glad I did! When I arrived they were booked and stayed fairly booked throughout my stay. The location is perfect- just a... More
