We really enjoyed our stay here! There was a nice pool where you could cool down after a warm day, there is a clean kitchen where you can prepare your own food and there's a place nearby where you can have really nice pollo frito. Cecilia and Mel where both really helpful and friendly, they us advise about where to... More

What an incredible hostel!! I stayed here for around 2months and couldnt think of a better place to stay whilst on Roatan. Mel the owner is beyond helpful and friendly, her knowledge of the island is exceptional, their isn't much she doesn't know! They hostel is located in Sandy Bay (about a 5-6min cab journey from Westend) which is an... More

I stayed here for nearly three weeks in December after intending to stay only one night. The draw was a cheap, clean and fun place to stay, a revolving door of fascinating people coming through, and of course, mainly, Mel and her family who created a family atmosphere for everyone there and made us feel like we were at home...... Mel is a fantastic hostess and the Hostel is absolutely beautiful, clean, and staff is very accommodating. One of my best stays in over 10 years traveling to HN. Thanks Mel, we appreciate everything! Price is very reasonable for Roatan, stayed in the cando.

The Roatan Backpackers' Hostel is a fantastic facility at an incredible bargain. Mel takes pride in her business and is eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. My girlfriend and I traveled to Roatan from Seattle and Mel picked us up after our long day of traveling. On the 15 minute drive to the hostel, she stopped at... More

Amazing Hostel on Roatan!!!Spend almost 6 weeks over here and felt like becoming part of it. It's a great place to stay when you want to visit roatan to make new friends to go out or to just enjoy the paradise with a book in the hammock. The owner Mel has a huge knowledge about whats going on on the... More

I stayed in Roatan for a few days with my friend back in August. We stayed at the Roatan Backpackers Hostel and had the most wonderful experience! The hostel is a beautiful, quaint place, hidden in a tropical wonderland! Everyone we met was absolutely wonderful! I felt like we made friends for a lifetime in just the few days we... More

I was on Roatan for 3 weeks from October, 31st -November 20, 2015. I spent 2 weeks at the Hostel, after only planning on staying for one. This place will be burned in my memory forever. The hostel itself is super unique, with many nooks and quiet hangout spots throughout the property. I loved that there are so many types... More

We stayed at the Backpackers hostel for a week. Mel was very nice and took time to chat with everyone staying at her place. Wifi was available, but was very intermittent (hardly ever available when we needed it), so definitely do not rely on it if you have to work online, book flights, etc. There is a pool, which is... Thanks for taking the time to write a review, and for showing me areas that we can improve. The internet company has now replaced my wiring in with fibre optic cable, so that should greatly improve the reliability of the connection. The communal kitchen is cleaned daily, usually mid-day (countertops scrubbed with a scrub-brush, dishes put away, garbage emptied, floor... More

Went for 1 week, almost stayed for 3 weeks. You won't find a better place to stay and experience the island. Mel is over the top helpful to each and every guest that comes to her hostel. We greatly enjoyed the social atmosphere, and made some new friends along the way. The backyard is a little more relaxing, also has... More

Thanks for the review and for all the positive feedback! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay- it was great to get to know you guys. As you mentioned 'green features', a few of the other ones are that we use primarily solar energy, and have a rain water collection system. We're trying to do our part to lessen our... More
