Captain Ron's lived up to the Trip Advisor reviews. Sandy bay is a great place to stay. It is a quiet part of the island, the beaches are not crowded and there are lots of birds. The reef is an easy kayak or a decent swim from shore. Ron and Carol are very friendly and make you part of their... More

Let me start by saying that if you are looking for luxury accommodations, Captain Ron's is not going to be your kind of place. Like Roatan itself, Captain Ron's is a bit rough around the edges, but it is in a prime location and the hosts Ron and Carol will do everything they can to make your stay fun and... More

We stayed at Captain Ron's Hideaway in July 2012. Ron and Carol were extremely hospitable and wonderful hosts. He always asked us if we needed a ride or just asked if we'd like to come along with him to the beach or other various places. They included us in almost all their activities and we really enjoyed meeting their friends who... Upon arriving in Roatan Captain Ron greet both of us at the airport and proceeded to take us grocery shopping and to the local beverage outlet to stock up on our supplies for the week. Captain Ron made me and my fiance feel welcome right from the beginning (I felt like an exchange student being welcomed into someones home). Ron... More

As the headline says, I did not actually stay at Captain Ron's. I was staying at another place just down the beach (see my review for Hobbie's Hideaway). The reason I'm writing a review is that I happened to meet Ron while I was waiting for a taxi to come along. Ron and I shared a taxi down to pick... More

I have never posted to any internet site prior to this, but I have to respond to the review from the December 2011 visitors. We were the next visitors to Ron’s in January 2012. And as stated in the previous post, the refrigerator had been giving Ron and Carol a problem, they had already tried to have it repaired and... More

The best part of the appartement was the bedroom, which was comfortable and clean. Besides the basics it had a tv, sofa, enough storage room and the bed was adequate. Another nice feature was the dock in front the house, where it was very nice to sit and watch the ocean, and where we enjoyed a few nice breakfasts. We... More

We must look at trip advisor more often - we have just seen this review. Thank you for your comments regarding the clean and comfortable bedroom. The bed is a fairly expensive chiropractic pillow top queen bed from the States, so not sure what is required to be more than "adequate". The porch is a wonderful place to relax/read as MANY... More

Great place to stay in Roatan!!! Ron and Carol were very gratious hosts, provided lots of "local" information and included us in their day when they could....don't miss Ron's weekly trip to the "Hole in the Wall" for all-you-can-eat steak and lobster.....even the trip there is an adventure! An evening with Ron and Carol's friends and neighbours and friends with... More
