The staff at this hostel is very rude. They´re greedy as well. They made me pay for a cup of hot water. I cannot recommend this hostal at all. They don´t have a kitchen, only a restaurant which is pricey. Their tours are overpriced. Don´t go. No WIFI, almost no electricity. Transportation depends on the shuttles. A lot of party,... More

The place is definitely beautiful. But when I arrived, they had mixed up my reservation. I wanted a private room, and they gave me a horrible dark attick room with no light inside, whereas the others on my bus who didn't have a reservation got nice rooms. I was not happy, and the guy at the desk was not very... More

It was literally no peace to get here - it was super rowdy and people were drinking and partying all night. The rooms were also incredibly hot and stuffy! It was a really bad experience staying here, which was such a shame because the place and surroundings were beautiful. I suggest to stay in Coban or somewhere else, and just... More

It was so much fun. The rooms were great. The only thing you need to remember is that the power goes out around 9:30 - 10:00pm so have a flashlight or something. Also, remember to bring cash as once you get past Coban and into the area, their are no ATM's. The tour of Semuc Champay was fabulous and it... More

We had booked at Utopia but we're disappointed. When exploring Semuc Champey We decided to check this place out. It was GREAT, so we moved. Great location, service, price, food. I can't understand how it is rated lower than Utopia. The location led us to stay way longer than planned. Part of that was our love for SemucChampey - but... More

If you're visiting the breathtaking Semuc Champey, I would really recommend actually staying there rather than doing a day trip from Lanquin/Coban. This is a really great hostel - situated in the jungle just after a rickety bridge (quite a scary crossing in a fully laden vehicle) you are just a 15 minute walk from the limestone pools. You can... Amazing location on the river, really nice view. Half price beers during happy hour. Swim in the river, walk to the park, go for walks in the beautiful area. If you are on a backpacker budget: The food issue, not really a hostel - no kitchen and not allowed to bring your own food in, we could however order and... More

At first glance, this place looks very nice from the outside. It is located right next to the river and the grounds are well kept. Here are a few things to know before you decide to stay or not: Semuc Champey is NOT a city...it's a destination. There are no towns nearby to walk around. There are only one or... More

We had an enjoyable two night stay here in May 2015. Coming from Flores we arrived by shuttle bus to Lanquin and the hostel picked us up from the stop. We had a semi - private bungalow (private with shared bathroom) which was pleasant enough. The rate is reasonable compared to other hostels we have stayed. Being so far out... More

We booked the hostal with booking.com but they didn't receive it. Also all the other guests of our shuttle had problems with their booking. We received a dorm, that was okey.. Juan, one of the staff called a guest fat and didn't want to apologize afterwords, very rude person with no respect. We also had some problems with the key,... More
