This small and sympathetic hostel has a fantastic central location close to the castle. Rooms are simple, but nice. Shared toilets and showers are clean. Seems to be very popular among volunteers so book your room in advance. Be sure to also visit the shop and the great restaurant downstairs. All the profits from the hostel, shop and restaurant go... Great location, lovely clean basic rooms with Batik print material curtains and bedding. Great breakfast, delicious pancakes. Friendly staff. Sharing showers but clean and not much of a queue. Lovely little shop too, all a good cause. Recommend it hugely.

I would have loved to give this guesthouse a better rating. It gets one star for the idea (charity approach) and one star for the very good breakfast and dinner in the Baobab restaurant next door. However, I would not recommend to stay here! Even though the price might be attractive, rooms are very basic (moldy, no mosquito nets even... More

We visites the Baobab Guesthouse with oud two little girls. The volunteers who work here werd very friendly and helpful. We slept well in the nicely coloured family room. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed the food, which is cheaper thans the nearby restaurants. Showers, though communal, werd very clean. We think this is a really... More

I had lunch at Baobab Guesthouse before visiting Cape Coast Castle. The place is very nice and comfortable; the food is simple but tasty. There is a selection of local and veg foods as well as drinks. The only drawback is the presence of many flies while eating outside, but this is common in all Ghana. Close to the restaurant... More

Baobab guesthouse helps out disadvantaged children and orphans with all the profits they make. There are many western volunteers who obviously speak good english and can help you out. Location-wise it's really close to Cape Coast Castle which is good, but also bad because you hear a lot of music at night, and loud noises of seamen and people in... More

I did not stay at the guesthouse, however the premises was very clean (not just Ghanaian clean)Food was great and very reasonably priced. The Tofu-kebabs and Vegan Ground nut soup made me do a happy dance in my seat! The service...polite but typically Ghanaian slowness (shouldn't complain, it arrived in under 1 hour...had to pick the groundnuts for the soup?).... More

Stayed here one night. Had to book via phone as didn't seem any other way to contact them. Staff very helpful, building old but clean. Food at reasonable prices though limited in scope and took the usual Ghananian long time to serve (we took cards to play at each restaurant); breakfast not available until 7.30am. Rooms were cheap, small, simple... More

The Baobab Guesthouse is an excellent base to explore Cape Coast and surroundings. It is right next to the Castle and beach. The very affordable room price goes 100% to charity. You have shared showers and toilets here, but everything is clean and well maintained. We certainly didn't mind. The rooms are light and have a nice seabreeze. The restaurant... More

The rooms are well-kept and have fans, and the common sink, bathroom, and showers are clean and well maintained. Bring your own mosquito net, and also check with what the bed situation is in your room as far as single beds vs. double beds before you go if you are traveling with people who aren't ok with sharing. Great gift... More
