We have just returned from an amazing family holiday of 7 nights in tahitii. We stayed three nights on the main island and loved it and then travelled to Moorea. The place I had first booked turned out to be 5 km to the nearest store, had no jug and so the only option for food was in its restaurant. It took... more

I just got home from a stay at Mark's place and a number of other dorms in French Polynesia. I'm surprised by the other reveiws. I found mark to be a great host, he seemed to try to match people up in Bungalows that would be compatible. I stayed at several other dorms on Moorea and other islands. Mark's place... more

Mark’s Paradise would be much nicer if Mark was not there. While he has built a beautiful haven in a lovely location (though not on the beach), his personality is wacky! Mark is completely bipolar; one minute he is “over the top” happy and the next moody and irritable and nasty. He does really nice things for his guests about... more

Firstly, I'd like to mention that Mark is an absolute wonderful person. His generousity, honesty and kindness can be felt as soon as you arrive. He works all day and all night to ensure that his customers are happy and have everything they need no matter what the issue OR time. We booked four nights at Marks Place, however, due... more

We booked the honeymoon bungalow for 5 nights over Xmas, then wanting to take a ferry to the outer islands and spend some time there before flying on to New Zealand. For us, the price was relatively heafty, but we wanted a nice Christmas and were willing to splurge. Plus, the place was recommended to us because of Mark's friendliness... more

Idea location on Mooera for me.Marks place is close to the best surf on the island, and tucked away from the ususal tourist seen. Mark's place is set in a beautiful garden clearing, with an amazing mountain back drop. The uniquely built bungalows are scattered around so all can enjoy the setting. All the bungalows are crafted in different ways to meet peoples budgets... more

While my wife and I were planning a trip to Moorea, a friend recommended Mark's Place Moorea. We did some research, but after reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor, we started to have second thoughts - some of the reviews sounded terrible. So I contacted my friend again, and he reassured me that he really enjoyed his stay here... more

My job takes me to Moorea sometimes and I always stay at Mark’s Place, for good reasons. Not only is the site beautifully and imaginatively laid out in a secluded spot and scrupulously maintained, but the accommodation itself - quality bungalows - has been designed and built with a perceptive sympathy and understanding towards the potential needs and wishes of... more

Iran is wrongfully called Axis of Evil -- you'll understand once arriving at Mark's Place 'Hell'. The photo is artistically crafted in Photoshop. As you arrive in this supposedly cheerful paradise location, you immedialy notice its complete absence from that wonderful beach Mark has promised you will enjoy nearby. Not only that -- the rooms are a total dump if... more

Management response from
MarksPlace, Owner

I have been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years. Each year I have thousands of very happy customers at my pension loving the uniqueness of my bungalows and grounds. This customer review is defamatory and slanderous, and in respects of the criticism of my business, quite incorrect. No picture on my web site is Photoshoped and all pictures...

I stayed at Mark's two days and one night in Dec 2006. I was in a decent cabin with one big bedroom, with bunks for about 8 people, depending upon how many slept in one bed. It had a kitchen with pots, etc., and flush toilets and showers, and mosquito nets for the beds, so it was fine for me.... more
