Robert "El Gringo" provided a professional, well-informed, and fun tour of the Cihuatan archeological site to me and my 9 college students. We not only learned about the cite's historical significance, but about local politics, wildlife and nature, social justice issues, etc. I've brought 8 delegations to El Salvador and this was one of the most memorable experiences I've had.... During this, my first visit to El Salvador, I stayed for 3 nights at the El Gringo Hostel and was very happy there. It is indeed very basic, as noted in other reviews (what do you expect for $12??), but my private room with shared bathroom was perfectly comfortable (with a good bed and a fan), the cool shower very... We had a private room for two, with a shared bathroom and lounge area. It was perfectly comfortable and clean. The shower is basic but powerful, which makes a nice change! The wifi was very strong. It is about five minutes walk from the square, the whole area felt very safe including at night. We also are at the hostel... More

I was in the US so we did not get to meet but I do hope my wife and our staff provided what you needed while stiying with us here in Little Suchitoto. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in El Salvador. Regards Robert Broz More

because off the entrance through the restaurant and the gate I felt save here. The rooms are down stairs. I had a private room (USD 12) shared bathroom and was too basic. Also the kitchen which was too poor. Good wifi and use of fridge was okay

Hi, Sorry you found our place too simple. Our hostel is very simple but we do have some of the best quality beds in town and we do our best to keep the rooms and social áreas clean. As far as I know we are one of the only hostels in El Salvador that has real beds in our dorm... More

I found this to be a typical hostal experience.....friendly and welcoming! If you are looking for the Hilton Princess, this is not it. With the rustic style and adventuristic atmosphere, I loved the place. It reminded me of the hostal experiences in the USA. People passing through, but looking for adventure. This is a place to lay your head at... More

Roberto was a great host, supplying us with plenty of inviting suggestions for what we could do with our 3 days in Suchitoto - and the rest of our trip, too. He offers tours of the town, but is more than happy to explain the country and area's recent history over a drink or while you partake in his wife`s... More

Basic accommodation but very reasonably priced with quick wifi in the room. The owner Roberto was very friendly and offered a lot of great advice. We ate in the restaurant, really enjoyed the food (I recommend the chilli con carne) and the staff were very friendly and also full of info. We did two waterfall hikes in one day with... More

Hi, With only two private rooms and a 5 bed dormitory we are one of the samller places in Suchitoto. Being off the main drag makes our place feel real local with kids playing in the Street in front and locals shopping at the store in front of our hostel. Thanks for the positive review and please don't forget to... More

Good location, good prices, nice staff, kitchen for guests (with a fridge! it's so important in this hot town!), free wifi, free purified water. Hostel is in the quiet part of town, but just a short walk from the center and market. The owner, Robert, will tell you everything about Suchitoto and surrounding attractions, he can also arrange a tour.

Robert the owner was quick to let us pick his brains not just regarding Suchitoto but our onward travels in El Savador. He has a large network so can draw on various contacts if needed Great local knowledge helped save us time and money - eg the local police tour rather than spending $10 each with a local tour, advising... This is a really friendly hostel - simple, clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money (I had a private room for $9). The owners are very helpful and can organise tours for you and there is internet, kitchen, laundry and a restaurant.
