A lovely hotel - relaxing place, designed with a 'rustic chic' sort of feel. Spacious room, large bed (even though it was categorised as a single room). Large clean stylish bathroom with good shower. Satellite TV. Friendly staff. Good food on the roof top restaurant. I've knocked a star off the service because although staff were very nice I still,... more

My wife and I took my parents to Siwa when they came to visit us in Egypt. We didn't know what to expect and were a little hesitant to spend so much (at the time it was around $70US per night for a double). We were VERY glad we had chosen this hotel. The rooms were very quaint, with palm... more

We stayed in the Shali Lodge for 3 nights in August. We had 2 double rooms in the new hotel building...which was still partly under construction (we were the only tourists in the building at the time anyway). The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated in pale colours with traditional furniture made out of palm-tree. It was relatively cool there,... more

We can to Siwa after a tour of Egypt on the recommendation of someone back home. We had an AMAZING time here, and the Shali Lodge made it that much more special! The intention was to have Siwa be the "honeymoon" part of our honeymoon (we'd been travelling non-stop for nearly two months) and we couldn't have picked a better... more

The Shali Lodge has a great location just steps up a dusty lane, through a palm grove, from the main square of Siwa. Hotel is built with the salt-mud brick and palm trunks used in local buildings and furniture is made from local woods and reeds. Hotel restaurant is very good (chicken couscous, crepe with date jam, etc.) and includes... more

It is very difficult to find fault with this wonderful little hotel on the edge of Shali town, Siwa Oasis. The design and architecture are superb, the food is generous and delicious, service excellent and the rooms comfortable, and well equiped. Although my (ground floor) room was a little dark, it contained a huge, soft bed; killim rugs; a lovely... more

The other review mention Shali Lodge's benefits but don't mention its architecture, decoration and ambience which are all, at once, rustic but top flight. The rooftop restaurant is nestled in the tops of the palm trees, there are lots of electrical outlets (OK, I'm a guy.), and even the inside restaurant has a warming fire. If you're going to go... more

We stayed three nights at Shali Lodge, which is nestled in a lush palm grove about 300m from the main square, down a quiet unpaved road that winds through palm trees. A little tricky to find! Although it is only a 3-minute walk from the central square of Siwa, the sounds of chickens, donkeys and call to prayer can be... more
