Stayed here one night in June, 2014, as part of an organized tour. Didn't really get to enjoy the hotel as we got in late and left before dawn to catch the train. The food was good. Ate dinner and breakfast there. There is no heating other than fireplaces and you have to ask that a fire be built. It... More

This place is fully into a rural setting, but with some luxurious amenities. The room we got was large and well appointed. The surroundings are green pastures and very quiet at night. Will return when possible.

This is reputedly the best overnight stay for catching the popular Devil's Nose train, only about an hour and a half drive from the train terminal in Alausi. The "hacienda" appellation is not strictly accurate, however because this is by no means a plantation or farm, but rather is a modern hotel in the style of a hacienda. Rooms are... More

IF you are traveling south to ride "the Devil's Nose" train, this is the best place to overnight. The property is amazing - in its layout, design and comfort. For couples, good-sized rooms with comfortable beds and great showers!! For families, multi-bedded or even double bedrooms make this a lovely place to stay. There are amazing "little areas" for socializing... More

Surprise retreat off the urban center, pleasant surprise. Wonderful on site restaurant, comfy rooms wonderful hot shower. The only downside was being awoken to the crows of roosters starting at 4am. Staff is multilingual, meals were superb, plenty of space, billiard room, sitting area, extra bathrooms.

Stayed here one night on a 2 week tour of Ecuador's highlands; it was the worst of all our rooms. With a single very dim bulb in the ceiling, we couldn't read a thing so asked for a simple lamp for the bedside table - that took over 2 hr. and 4 calls to receive, though we were told each... More

although the garden is beautiful, I do not recommend this hotel for individual travelers. this hotel just cares for groups and inviduals are given the worst room, worst table, slowest service, no smile, etc. no alternative for dinner as the hotel is located far away from everything. no privacy, all rooms facing the inner garden.

We stayed one night at the Hacienda Abraspungo during our tour of Ecuador. The hacienda is located right in Riobamba, not far from a bustling urban area. However, you wouldn't know it once there as you pull off of one of the main streets and through a gate to the hacienda and buildings located on beautiful grounds. We arrived late... More

Need I say more this was absolutely a beautiful hotel from the stunning views, incredible service and comfortable rooms. Took a visit here from the United States with my husband who is from Ecuador and my three year old daughter and we all loved it here!! Our room was quite cozy and a fire was going in our small stove... More

The rooms are HUGE and the baths some of the best in Ecuador with walk -in showers and high hand hewn beamed ceilings. Gorgeous fresh flower arrangements everywhere and beautiful gardens. Food and beverage service in the dining room is above average and usually local music in the evenings. Fireplaces in the rooms and the staff come in to light... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The wonderful Hacienda Abraspungo is located at 2,754 metres above sea level and is surrounded by the magnificence of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is named after a glacial valley which is situated between the Chimborazo Volcano and Carihuairazo, in the exact centre of Ecuador.Hacienda Abraspungo, with its comfortable, charming and high level installations offers a personalized service in the ideal spot to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Andes. The architectural style found here offers the best of traditional colonial design often used in the ancestral mansions and haciendas of Ecuador. The Hacienda is adorned with old photographs and illustrations of Andean landscapes, which today constitutes as a testimony to eras gone by. The antiques on display in the social areas give a colonial flavour as well as a feel for the pre-Colombian cultures of the region. The visitor can truly appreciate the richness of the natural resources offered by the Chimborazo Province and Ecuador in general. Each room takes its name from one of the mountains of Ecuador. That mountain is shown in the photographs displayed within the interior design in the room. The owner’s commitment is to create a working environment which allows sustainable growth, enhancing positive image and generating an overall feeling of trust between the working force, the clients, and the community, aiming to become a point of reference within the tourist industry of Ecuador and the city of Riobamba. ... more   less
