We travelled from the Cloudforest (North) to Cajas NP (South) visiting several hotels but I did not see any hotel that even remotely compares to Santa Isabella. Close to the centre of Riobamba you suddenly feel you have entered an exotic world of flowers and beautiful paintings :) Awesome rooms, superb large bathroom with giant bath and nicely smelling soaps... My daughter and I spent two nights in this hotel prior to riding the Devil's Nose train journey. We were welcomed and looked after wonderfully throughout our stay and the staff helped us with many aspects of our journey-planning. The building itself is charming and our room was very comfortable. Restaurant was also lovely.

Riobamba has not good choices of hotels and restaurants. Overall there are not good reasons to stay overnight unless you have business, drive from Quito to Cuenca or visit the train canyon. The Santa Isabella is a charming hotel, with most of the 20 rooms facing a 2 floors courtyard of a one hundred old mansion. It is centrally located,... More

Dear Marcopolo, Thank you for your review and for pointing out some of the areas we need to work on. With regards to service we have recently lost some of our long term staff, but we are training and integrating a new group of staff. We are sure that in the coming months the service will continue to improve. With... More

I don't know what these other negative reviews are banging on about. We, at least, got a good deal on this characterful place. Friendly, comfortable, clean, good wi-fi, hot water, located close to restaurants, etc. The basic breakfast could have been better but I'm struggling to think of any serious negatives.

The hotel is nice, clean, well located with great amenities including fast wifi, cable tv and hot tub. A little on the pricey side, more expensive than hotels in quito. Other than that, no complaints everythig is walking distance.

Mansion Santa Isabella is beautiful! It's downtown, so you can walk to the park, the train museum or to shops. We got a matrimonial room. The decor was beautiful, the bed was comfy, and most importantly it was very clean! We got a room with a bathtub - a rarity in Ecuadorean hotels. My hubby took two relaxing baths in... More

We got a reservation to go here for 2 kids and 2 adults. The room price was $120. The room was so small you could barely fit two beds. The room was also dirty. When we asked for a bigger room we were given the shoulder shrug. We left and stayed at a much better place for $60. I was... More

Dear Greg, We would like to apoligise for the poor stay you had in the Mansion Santa Isabella. We feel that there was an error in the allocation of your room. We have 3 large rooms which we use for bookings such as yours, 2 adults and 2 children, they have 2 large double beds and a big bathroom with... More

This is definitely not typical of the hotels we stayed at during our visit to Ecuador. We were received pleasantly enough, but were not at all impressed with our accommodation which was arranged on two floors. On entering the room we were confronted by a huge dining table around which were eight chairs. Also in the room were two large... More

This is a great place to stay for couples, singles or families looking for a B&B type experience rather than a large hotel chain experience-- The family rooms are large, the breakfast is included, and the proprietors are very friendly. Convenient location in the center of the city. A lot of character.

We traveled around Ecuador a couple of months ago and we stayed here. The rooms are boxy and small. The bathrooms are clean and nice with good showers. There are no windows to the outside , I guess due to the noise, and the rooms open to the inside of the hotel making it all a little airless. However there... More
