We loved our stay at La Luna! We camped outside with an amazing view on the mountains. The fire inside in the evening was great to warm up around a pizza or other food they offer. Breakfast was also good every morning. The staff was awesome to recommend hikes around the area and to give us indications on how to... More

We have been living in Quito for almost 4 years, and La Luna has always been one of our favorite spots for a quiet weekend getaway. The green landscape, the cozy fireplaces, and the tasty pizzas have always been a draw for is. When we decided to get married, it didn't take us very long to realize that La Luna... More

La Luna offers 4 spotless rooms, two of which are heated by a fireplace, beautiful surroundings, an unusually good breakfast, peace and quiet -- all just a short walk from Otavalo. Our room in La Luna was very welcome, as we'd just spent three "rainy season" days in the Cloud Forest where all our stuff got either soaked or damp.... More

La Luna is one of the more special places to stay in Ecuador. The property is out of town, perched on a mountainside overlooking the Otavalo Valley. On a clear day you can see Cotacachi and Imbabura, the two massive and stunning volcanoes that are responsible for the fertile soil in the surrounding countryside. The hostel is neighbored by small... More

I took a taxi from Quito to La Luna which is about 4 km outside of Otavalo. The trip took a little over two hours and cost $60. The setting of La Luna is stunningly gorgeous, in the lush green Andes and something I had only seen in pictures. Some people think it is too cold there but I perpetually... More

My girlfriend and I initially were going to head to Rose Cottage but last minute decided to hike to La Luna. It was well worth the walk! Initially we planed to stay one night, and in the end we stayed 4. The food is excellent - they have a very varied and delicious menu that caters to people of all... More

Wonderful place to stay and relax. Away from the city, the sounds, everything. On a clear night you've got an awesome view of the sky and stars, and it's close to a few of the big hikes you can do in the area. Nowhere to buy groceries around here, though, so stock up before you arrive! They have a restaurant... More

We had a hard time deciding between La Luna and Rose Cottage (down the road) based on reviews but after seeing both, we are so happy we chose La Luna!! It is simply and beautifully built without kitschy decor or being over the top to attract customers, it seem like they hardly advertise at all but the place speaks for... More

La Luna is in a beautiful location but there were too many cons for us to stay here only 2 out of 4 days. We chose to stay in the dorm room that sleeps 12 rather than the twin room. There didn't seem to be a lot of difference between the rooms except for privacy obviously and the price. The... More

Panoramic setting, nestled in the hills above the market town of Otavalo, away from the crowds, find quiet rest and good food. Reasonably priced, safe, and fun people. Perfect base for exploring Imbabura and the Saturday market in Otavalo.
