This cozy hostal is located right in the center of it all. Located right around the corner from Otavalo's famous artisanal markets, farm markets, and just a short walk from the mercado de animales. The Hostal is very safe, and secure. Rooms are simple and cozy, studded with art from Otavalo. All the rooms circle a tranquil courtyard. A restaurant... More

We stayed for 3 nights in early February and it was great. It's quite basic, but clean, very secure, cozy, and the people were so nice. The food was good, even had the wood-fired oven pizza two nights in a row. Breakfast was very good. WIfi worked fine. Hot water sometimes takes a couple minutes and is then fine. Location... More

Very nice hotel right in the middle of the old town. Great location, within walking distance from all the mayor sites. Simple but clean rooms, good bathroom. Friendly and helpfull dutch owners. There is a nice restaurant downstairs. We can recommend it.

Really good central location next to one of the main squares. Lovely and secure building with a courtyard and clean, tranquil rooms. Incredibly welcoming and friendly host and staff. A perfect stay really, there is nothing bad at all to say about Doña Esther! The restaurant at the hostel is also wonderful - we ended up eating all our meals... More

Close in to town, friendly and helpful people at hotel. Safe place with locked gate at street. Restaurant on site but food not included in room rent. Free Wireless worked well. Reading room available, also roof top views.

Located in the centre of Otavalo - yet the inner courtyard style hotel is kept from much of the outside city noise. Rooms have a rustic charm, shower was great (warm and good pressure despite 2nd floor room, clean fluffy towels). Restaurant has good wood oven pizza's. Staff is friendly and helpful. Separate reading/ TV room available. Feels clean and... More

Nice cosy hotel. The staff is friendly, however, brush up you Spanish as only one person might speak a little English. The restaurant within the hotel is great -> good food for local prices. The room is average, just enough space to put your stuff and move around a little. Good shower with warm water. Because of the time difference... More

We stayed at Hotel Dona Esther at the beginning of September and we loved it! We had two rooms (one for myself, and one for my parents) and they were spacious with good size private bathrooms that had big showers with hot water and great water pressure. It can get cold at night and they don't have central heating, so... More

We had a great stay in Dona Esther. Great people, cozy rooms, fantastic food and heartwarming South American atmosphere. At Dona Esther you can leave the turbulence of the city for a moment and enjoy the peace full atmosphere. We really experienced the warm hospitality of the Ecuadorian staff and the Dutch owner family. After having had Ecuadorian food for... More
