I am a ten-year old boy who just traveled to Ecuador and spent several nights at Hacienda Cusin. It is a thrilling experience. For one, it is located at approximately ten thousand feet, which is quite an altitude, and adds some extra excitement into the hacienda. Also, even though some of the things there have been built surprisingly recently, they... More

Hacienda Cusin is truly spectacular. Besides being surrounded by the most breathtaking Andean landscape (good for hiking, riding, weaving and leather weaving villages), the most exquisite care has been taken for every detail of the property: the hand-carved wooden window panels and doors, the wall murals, the landscaping, the textiles, the fireplaces, etc.). I spent a week here five years... More

We are a family of four and stayed at Cusin for five nights in mid February 2009. We are adventerous travelers and were excited about staying in this part of Ecuador. We chose Cusin due to location and the notion of staying at a hacienda with horses and other activities. The location is great..near Ottavalo. The horses were great, as... More

Dear Mr. Klien, Thank you for your comments. Thoughtful and constructive criticisms are essential for Cusin's growth. I have personally investigated every aspect of your complaints. Such complaints would have been managed during your stay. It is somewhat strange that you remained in your room, consumed the food yet made no complaint during your 4-night stay. Then weather during your... More

We stayed at Hacienda Cusin for four nights at the end of our Ecuador trip. The gardens and buildings are especially beautiful, and we enjoyed relaxing and treating ourselves. We are very interested in crafts, and the Hacienda arranged for us to have a great guide, Hans Moser, show us around the crafts villages. I highly recommend him. The staff... More

We stayed 3nights at the hacienda and it was wonderful. The food was delicious, especially the soups! The reception staff was very pleasant and helped organize our days. The gardens were beautiful and our room was wonderful. Each night a fire was lit for us in our room and a warm water bottle was placed in our beds. Highly recommended!

We spent 4 nights at Hacienda Cusin. Once you get through the gates to the Hacienda you will be in another small world. The hacienda is very attractive including the wonderful palanting / garden areas. We had cottage #25 and it was isolated and just perfect. The fireplace was great and we even had a roof-top patio area that looked... More

This was our first trip to South America - it's a long way from England - and despite reading the travel guides we were unsure of what to expect. We didn't need to have worried at all. This was not an anonymous hotel. It was not even a guest house but felt more as if we were away visiting friends... More

Hacienda Cusin offers a wonderful retreat from which to explore the Northern Andes. Its seventeenth-century buildings are interspersed with cobblestone courtyards, fountains, and lush gardens. My two-year-old daughter and seven-year-old nephew loved roaming the garden walks and goldfish ponds. Each morning we would take the kids down to the barn to see the turkeys, peacocks, llamas, and horses; each evening... More

We booked with the hotel directly which might be unusual as everyone else in the hotel seemed to be part of a tour group. The hotel kindly offered to provide transport from Quito but we used Taxi Lago (a shared taxi) which took us there for $10 each from Quito. Taxi Lago will also take you back to Quito and... More

An amazing retreat for us after weeks of roughing it.... excellent service, food, grounds and an amazing and romantic room. Very rarely do pricey spots seem worth five times the typical rates for run of the mill Ecuadorian hotels, but this place is worth every penny.
