This is an incredibly magical place at an incredibly reasonable price for what you get. We had two rooms, numbers 16 and 20, and they were both totally charming and beautiful. As others have said, the gardens are amazing: the owner/designer is a genius and it's clear that creating Cusin was a labor of love for him. The photos don't... More

We spent 2 nights here in March. The grounds were very attractive and we saw a range of colourful birds, including a hummingbird just outside our room. The service was OK, the food was good and the house red wine ($10 for a litre) did wonders for my altitude sickness. On the downside, the hot water disappeared after the first night.... More

It really is very difficult to report on this destination because there are some very positive aspects but also a number of factors at the other end of the spectrum; despite its claim to be only 90 minutes from Quito in their publicity, they are referring to the new airport which won't be open for a while yet. Yes, the... More

La Hacienda Cusin is an enchanted realm – so inspiring, so full of beauty & peace & joy. From the conception of the whole, to every, tiniest detail – the architecture, the gardens, the food, the art, the door handles, the constant, beautifully chosen music – everything is so exquisite, & full of happy surprises. We came to La Hacienda... More

For anyone to give La Cusin a bad rap because of a bad experience there has no one to fault but themselves. All you have to do is speak to the staff (they were very forgiving of my Spanglish) or to the manager, (who attended Cornell and is very aware of what good service means) Having been part of the... This sumptuously beautiful, traditional seventeenth-century Andean hacienda, positioned near the base of the majestic inactive volcano Imbabura and its neighboring eye-of-the-crater lake, has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored by British expatriate Nik Millhouse. Situated in a park-like setting with a mixture of indigenous and imported plants and decorated in an appealingly eclectic style of regional crafts, Spanish antiques, and Ecuadorian... More

Just finished editing the video from our trip in Ecuador with Craft World Tours. ...and was again blown away by the beauty of the grounds of the old walled hacienda. ....fountains, terraces, porches, lovely old stone villas and gates. ...and even horses of the hostel trippers. This is one of the places not to miss in Ecuador. Everything top drawer.... More
