We stayed at the hotel for four nights while enjoying the market and surrounding towns and sights. The room was large and pleasant with plenty of light from the windows. The bed was comfortable and bathroom had plenty of hot water - a great value for the low price per night. The hotel was located only two blocks from the... More

We came to Otavalo primarily on business but this hotel will stay in our hearts forever and we will return here anytime we come back to this wonderful town. The courtyard is a hummingbird heaven. We ate our breakfast watching the many hummingbirds entertain us. The breakfast was amazing, fresh fruit and good strong coffee. Coffee is very important to... More

We only stayed here one nite, I wish it was for longer. We had a room on the first floor, small enough but fine for one nite, with a good sized bathroom and hot water. Christian is very generous with his information about Otavalo, and provided us with a good map. Location is very central. There's a fab kitchen, though... More

For a clean safe stay near the market this is hotel is prime. If you don't feel like walking much, most locations in town including bus depot are less than $1.00 cab fare. The market is an easy less than 5 minute walk. The rooms are basic (with ecuador charm) and clean. The door to the street has a buzzer... More

I might give this hotel a 2.5 instead of two. There were some good things, but overall there were simply too many negatives. Positives: - good location - while no one spoke any English, staff was friendly - breakfast cost extra but was good and reasonable value - internet was strong in the rooms (except for a brief period when... We made a reservation months before and had good contact with Flores, who turned out to be the owner. He arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport, which was very convenient. We arrived around 6 in the evening and there was only a Spanish speaking guy at reception. No problem, we checked in without any issues. Riviera... More

Quaint and charming, two stories opening onto central courtyard, bougainvillea, hammocks, beautiful garden. Excellent staff, great breakfasts, open fire, right in the centre of the old town with a quick walk to the famous weekend markets and local restaurants and bars. The rooms are clean, windows opening to the street, areas to sit outside on the verandah. We had an... More

This was an old building which has been very nicely restored. The showers have a dedicated gas heated burner to keep your water nice and hot. The locks on the doors utilize a skeleton key which will lock the double doors in an interesting manner. The rooms which have an on suite bathrooms open up to an open air courtyard... More

This hotel is worth checking out because of its central location, reasonable price, and garden rooms (in the center of the city). The staff didn't speak English, but we got by. However, the shower was an issue. The hot water in the shower is heated by propane into a wall unit. We initially had scalding hot water for 5 seconds,... More

Hotel Riviera-Sucre was a wonderful choice for us in Otavalo. For the price of a hostel private room ($36) we got the space and luxury of a small hotel. The room was very large, but a little cold. The breakfast was the best I've had in Ecuador, hands down. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The free wifi was... More
