We almost walked away from the booking when we confronted the stairs [no elevator] but three nights later are thrilled that we stayed in this magical place. We have traveled the world and cannot think of a hotel which had more charming, more aesthetic uniqueness than this oddity. The owner, Alberto, admits to the folly of his undertaking but is... More

Our one night stay began with a driver from the hotel picking us up close to midnight at the Guayaquil Airport. The drive was approximately 15 mins. After a slight misunderstanding regarding the room assignment we were shown our room. Quickly we turned on the AC as it was stifling. The room was small and contained 2 Q beds. The... More

We stayed there after the 4 day Tren Crusero trip and it was a perfect compliment to the ambience of the train. Elegant, comfortable, and we had room 2 with a small balconey overlooking the river. When we returned from the Galapagos we stopped in and asked it we could just spend a few hours between flights on the terrace... More

As part of our tour with Ecuador Freedom Bikers we ended our 6th day at the quaint boutique hotel that is the Mansion del Rio. It is a bit awkward to find and parking is a bit away, plus there's a lot of stairs that said the staff we're only too pleased and even insistent on taking our gear upstairs.... More

This really is a find in Guayaquil. Situated in the oldest street in the city which has been extensively resored and is close to the waterfront. Built in the 1920's by an Englishman, Sir Fredrick Ashton, with original features and furniture from that period. Like a living museum (worthy of being a National Trust property in the UK!) although has... More

This hotel in the old town was the home of the Sir Frederick Ashton's family when he was a lad which may add interest to ballet lovers. It is an old town house built on about 4 levels with quite a climb to each. The decor is antique with original furnishings and a plan of the original house framed on... More

This lovely old house is a treat to see, filled with atmosphere and antiques. The location was perfect for our 2 night stay as it is at the foot of Las Penas and at the south end of the Malecon, for 1 day there was lots to do in those areas. Maria is a gracious host and endlessly helpful with... More

To book this hotel, we were unable to reach them by phone, but succeeded via email. We booked it 1 night before and they were able to get us a room for $125. With taxes, the total came to $152.50. I have to say that for our short layover in Guayaquil, I'm happy we paid a bit extra to stay... More

We chose this hotel after a lot of research, and we weren't disappointed. The rooftop deck was our favorite place to sit. Location was excellent - beautiful old neighbourhood, close to the Malecon and airport, and all very safe. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. This hotel has tons of... More
