We stayed here for our last Ecuador days and we do not regret having stayed at this hotel one bit. It's a museum-like place, and we loved it. It's a bit stuffy and dusty but I guess it must be a hell of a job to have it cleaned spotlessly with all the knick-knacks, chandeliers, antiques and very high ceilings.... More

The hotel photographs well and if you are looking for a photo shoot it is probably ideal. 2 rooms have their own balconies and there is a large balcony overlooking the water. It is well located to walk down the Malecon and/or climb the hill to the lighthouse. That is pretty well the end of any good comments that I... More

I run tours and bring people to the best places in Ecuador. The Manson del Rio is no longer one of them. I previously reviewed this hotel on this site, giving it an "excellent." rating. It used to have a great manager named Maria, and she ran the place well and was very polite and efficient. Since Maria is no... More

This cute hotel is set out from the downtown of Guayaquil. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The rooms have excellent air conditioning and are a good size with VERY comfortable beds (probably better than most beds at home). The breakfast is mostly continental but you will be offered eggs - go for the Mansion del Rio special, it's... More

This old mansion in the lovely and quaint Las Penas neighborhood is a delightful place to stay in Guayaquil. If you want authentic charm and not the chain hotel experience, then you will love this boutique hotel. The rooms have old world elegance with all the modern conveniences. The manager, John, is very fluent in English. He was a wonderful... More

My friend and I stayed in this hotel April 2014 for 2 days. When we left, I accidentally left my camera battery charger with a battery plugged into the wall. When we contacted the hotel, they would not directly answer the question of whether the camera equipment was still there for several days (I had native Spanish speakers contacting them).... More

We almost walked away from the booking when we confronted the stairs [no elevator] but three nights later are thrilled that we stayed in this magical place. We have traveled the world and cannot think of a hotel which had more charming, more aesthetic uniqueness than this oddity. The owner, Alberto, admits to the folly of his undertaking but is... More

Our one night stay began with a driver from the hotel picking us up close to midnight at the Guayaquil Airport. The drive was approximately 15 mins. After a slight misunderstanding regarding the room assignment we were shown our room. Quickly we turned on the AC as it was stifling. The room was small and contained 2 Q beds. The... More

We stayed there after the 4 day Tren Crusero trip and it was a perfect compliment to the ambience of the train. Elegant, comfortable, and we had room 2 with a small balconey overlooking the river. When we returned from the Galapagos we stopped in and asked it we could just spend a few hours between flights on the terrace... More
