A small and cosy place where everything from reception to bathroom, from service to breakfast delights make you feel at home. Make sure you have the address in writing to show the taxi driver. The location is very good, between Hilton and Mall del Sol, in a quiet street.

Many of us want to stay in a small and couzy hotel with excellent facilities and service. If you are one of them, this might be what you are looking for. Just remember that it is a trade-off, you get a personal service and loose the advantage of international hotels. I liked Macaw to certain extend, but I start with... More

This is a lovely place to stay, very close to the airport (5-10minutes depending on traffic) and a really nice and friendly place to be. The family are so nice and will carry your heaviest bags to the third floor with a smile. I have only given it 3 out of 5 because this is a small family run hotel... More

Stayed here after a long flight from the uk. Arrived early evening, thought we would be able to eat here but our host couldn't provide an evening meal. Due to the language barrier we just sat on the patio with a few cold beers and then had an early night! Room was basic but clean had all you need for... More

I stayed at the Macaw for two nights while enroute to a live-aboard for diving in the Galapagos. The live-in owner/manager, Rodrigo, is very helpful arranging side trips if you are interested. The place is up to date, the air conditioning is OK, and the breakfasts are fine. You can walk two or three blocks to a large indoor shopping... More

Two nights I have spent here before and after the Galapagos. The hotel is just great. Very spacious single rooms, super clean and the most charming and helpful staff I have experienced in Ecuador. Good and large breakfast and even if you have to catch an early flight you will receive a breakfast bag with a lovely prepared sandwich, fresh... More

Located 5 minutes from the airport, this place is quiet, charming, very friendly and very clean. The rooms are large and comfortable with good air conditioning. Bottled water is provided. Fanny and the staff go out of their way to welcome you and help you with any travel issues (e.g. transfers, etc.) at the time of reservation and also when... More

We were here for 1 night. The hotel is not far from the airport (10 minutes with taxi). The staff is very friendly. The room is very clean and the bed is very good. Good breakfast too. It is a bit far from the centre of the city but we went by taxi for 3.5 dollars. Good airco in room.... More

My daughter was traveling by herself, and was going to be going thru Guayaquil several times. We choose Macaw based on the great reviews here. Her schedule changed a couple of times, and they were very understanding in changing her reservations. They scheduled transfers from/to the airport and bus terminal, so she would feel safe and comfortable by herself. After... More

I read about the Hostal Macaw in "A Naturalist's Guide to the Galapagos Islands by Steve Rosenberg" (http://www.amazon.com/Naturalist-Guide-Gal%C3%A1pagos-Islands-2nd-ebook/dp/B00KL67EFW/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1416588547&sr=8-9&keywords=galapagos+islands), an excellent guide to planning a trip with many helpful tips. Rosenberg described the hostal as a place to see the culture of Ecuador and the owners (Fanny Paltin and Rodrigo Sangolqui) as very helpful in arranging transport to and from the... More
