Positive note: one staff spoke English and showed us where to go. Bad notes: (In our room not sure of others) shower was always cold and our shower dribbled meaning no shower pressure. Maid forgot to give towels, area we were in was noisy, constant horns from cars and morning whistles from traffic cops and salesmen yelling "agua". Our window... More

The staff was very friendly and competent. The front desk staff spoke English well and were very accommodating. The gym is small but convenient. The hotel paid special attention in maintaining a "green" philosophy, with signs encouraging using the stairs and key-card controlled electricity. The rooms were very comfortable, although the air conditioning is somewhat outdated. Great location within walking... More

the food I left on the fridge disappeared, along with my toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo. Seriously, before you leave your room put everything inside your bags, and make sure you buy a lock. And take all your important belongings (money, passport, etc) with you.... ohh, and don't expect to sleep well!

We were told it was difficult to find a hotel in Guayaquil for less than $100 per night, so we were thrilled to find Hotel Plaza St. Rafael for $52 per night in a seemingly decent location. It is only about 100 yards from the hotel door-step to the Guayaquil Post Office, and Iguana Park is in the opposite direction.... More

This hotel is great value for a fabulous location. There are not many frills but the rooms are adequate and clean (the bathroom could have used a bit if a scrub). The air conditioner was fine. The included breakfast was perfect. The hot water was the only thing lacking. You are right across the street from Parque Seminario and three... More

Hotel is centrally located adjacent to the Cathedral and the Parque Seminario with its resident iguanas, and only three blocks from the Malecon. Room facilities perfectly adequate and functional, and typical breakfast included in the very reasonable price. Staff helpful and efficient. Lift was being repaired at time of arrival but security guard was happy to assist with luggage.
