My husband and I stayed at Samona Lodge for 3 nights as part of our trip around Ecuador. We were picked up at the airport by our English speaking guide who came included in the price for the lodge. He gave us some local history as we drove to the mouth of the Cuyabeno River. He was fantastic at spotting... More

Overall we had a good time in the jungle. Our guide named Pajaro did a great job spotting and calling animals with all his noises he makes. We saw a sloth, anacondas, monkeys, spiders, dolphins, caiman, and all different kinds of birds. He did a good job pointing out and explaining the different plants too. The food was good and... More

Had a fantastic time in the jungle. Our guide Veronica was brilliant. She was so skilled at picking out the animals, had so much knowledge and was a lot of fun too! The rooms are basic, but fantastic value. And it is great to be in stilted huts above the water with caimans lurking below. Previous reviewers complaining about bugs... More

This was an awesome experience and was very affordable. I went with a friend and we saw tons of animals in their natural habitat and got to experience the jungle like never before. We saw monkeys, crocodiles, snakes, giant spiders, dolphins and many tropical birds. We were well fed with a three course meal almost every meal. The food wasn't... More

This is one of the cheaper options for a jungle trip in Ecuador. The rooms are "rustic" to say the least. Not all rooms are created equal! You'll have a better experience if you get one of the rooms with a skylight or one that lets natural light in. My room was so dark, even in the middle of the... More

We booked our tour in Quito and the setting of the lodhe was amazing, really in the jungle. Accomodation was grand we had an ensuite room with a mosquito net. there is a lovely chill out area with hammocks. Until this tour I didn´t realise how important a guide is on a tour. Our guide francisco was disappointing. His english... More

After months of research, I decided to visit cuyabeno wildlife reserve in the amazon. I wanted a 5 day stay and geotours recommended this lodge. What an excellent choice. After a 3 hour canoe trip we arrived at the lodge and was greeted by a very friendly staff. Our guide Rom was so very helpful and knowledgeable of the amazon.... More

My wife and I were on the very same tour as the previous reviewer (Constance). Her review is spot on, and there is little to add to it. We too, were disappointed by the lack of jungle walks. We too, were dismayed by the tour guide's flirty manner toward some of the single women in our group. Not professional at... More

My best advice about Ecuador is, if you're going to go to the jungle and the Galapagos, go to the jungle first. We had such an amazing time in the Galapagos that expectations were high for the Amazon and it just couldn't live up. Samona lodge was fine, food was good but the first night dinner was two hours late... More

I stayed at Samona lodge for 5D/4N. Generally speaking, it was a good experience, however, I have stayed at other jungle lodges in South America so comparing is only inevitable. The rooms were very rustic and since I was traveling solo, I had to share a hut with several other people. The hut I stayed in was divided into three... More
