Yes, the rooms are basic, but the amazon is no place for a luxury hotel. If you decide on the amazon know that this is as close as it gets to nature. Meaning yes you will have animals in your room. They may be cute lizards that are tiny like I had or they may be tarantulas like other people... More

Worth the Jungle Experience We booked the four day trip. It’s a bit interesting getting La Argrio where the guides pick you up. It’s a longer ride out to the landing where you transfer to long boats. Lots of waiting around. Once we made it to the lodge we were pleasantly surprised by the look of the place. The huts... More

We booked 5D/4N at Samona Lodge initially but ended up adding a day due to disappointment in the program. The lodge and food were great but our guide Clyde was a bit lackluster. First we got stuck in between groups so that meant we repeated the activities several times with really no animal spottings to show for it. We went... More

Lovely lodge with awesome guides who spoke excellent English. I booked through Happy Gringo online and had the cheapest pricing than the others at the lodge at that time. Would not recommend the 5 day option- the extra day gets repeated within the 4 days anyway. Food is good, a few extra snacks would be recommended as the activities can... More

We did the 4 day experience here. I really enjoyed the boat trips we did, both during the day as during the during the night. The alligator hunt I particularly liked. The sundown on the lake and the swimming are simply a must do in ones lifetime. The huts are basic but clean and you get towels, eco shampoo, sheets,... More

My husband and I stayed at Samona Lodge for 3 nights as part of our trip around Ecuador. We were picked up at the airport by our English speaking guide who came included in the price for the lodge. He gave us some local history as we drove to the mouth of the Cuyabeno River. He was fantastic at spotting... More

Overall we had a good time in the jungle. Our guide named Pajaro did a great job spotting and calling animals with all his noises he makes. We saw a sloth, anacondas, monkeys, spiders, dolphins, caiman, and all different kinds of birds. He did a good job pointing out and explaining the different plants too. The food was good and... Had a fantastic time in the jungle. Our guide Veronica was brilliant. She was so skilled at picking out the animals, had so much knowledge and was a lot of fun too! The rooms are basic, but fantastic value. And it is great to be in stilted huts above the water with caimans lurking below. Previous reviewers complaining about bugs... More

This was an awesome experience and was very affordable. I went with a friend and we saw tons of animals in their natural habitat and got to experience the jungle like never before. We saw monkeys, crocodiles, snakes, giant spiders, dolphins and many tropical birds. We were well fed with a three course meal almost every meal. The food wasn't... More

This is one of the cheaper options for a jungle trip in Ecuador. The rooms are "rustic" to say the least. Not all rooms are created equal! You'll have a better experience if you get one of the rooms with a skylight or one that lets natural light in. My room was so dark, even in the middle of the... More
