Samona was fantastic. Did the 3night and 4day tour, saw incredible animals like river dolphins, caimans, monkeys, birds, and more. It isn't a luxurious lodge, but that shouldn't be why you go to the Amazon. Everyone was very nice and helpful, and the rooms were pleasant. Jose Luis was a wonderful and fun guide, and Jorge back at Tierra de... More

We stayed at Samona lodge on the 3N/4D tour of the Amazon! The lodge itself is basic but still a really nice place to be, our hut was clean, the bed was comfortable with a mosquito net, clean sheets and towels and the bin was changed everyday. If you didn't want to stay in your room there was a common... More

To be honest this lodge was not my first choice. Unfortunately I left booking to the last minute and this was the only one available. No regrets! Most of the lodges at Cuyabeno have a riverside location - as does this place. The lodge was clean with good food and good service. You are only in the lodge for meals... More

Room is a bit rustic, but very clean. Food was great, guides were informative and very interesting to talk to. Stayed 3 nights with my daughter and had a great time. Weather is variable, so be prepared to get wet, be hot, be cool, everything. From swimming in the river and the lake, to hiking in the forest and getting... More

Myself and my girlfriend had an incredible time in Samona Lodge. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights. Everything was organised which made it a very relaxing week. From spotting wild exotic animals to swimming in the lagoon at sunset and taking a mid day siesta in the hammocks, it was perfect. We had our own room which was great,... More

We loved staying at Samona lodge! The rooms were spacious and really nice, also the community area was really nice and the food was outstanding! We didnt expect such amazing food in the middle of the jungle! The staff was extremely friendly and helped where they could. Our private guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and the nature, but... More

Samona Lodge is great; I would highly recommend it. We did 5 days/4 nights. Some reviews say the 5th day is unnecessary and while I kind of see their point, I was more than happy to chill out in the hammocks for a day. (It was arranged for us to go canoeing but we were feeling lazy!) The lodge has... More

If you're reading these reviews and you're dithering about whether to book Samona Lodge, I'd encourage you to do it. People describe it as 'basic' but I found it had everything we needed. We saw another lodge had a satellite tv aerial when we went past in the boat and I wondered what kind of weird individual wants to watch... More

Yes, the rooms are basic, but the amazon is no place for a luxury hotel. If you decide on the amazon know that this is as close as it gets to nature. Meaning yes you will have animals in your room. They may be cute lizards that are tiny like I had or they may be tarantulas like other people... More
