The rooms are shabby and in a time warp. There were no sheets on sofa bed for my daughter so we had to ask at 11pm night we arrived - the guy on night desk was v helpful. The maids seemed to ration loo paper and were generally surly. The reception staff tried their best but I was irritated to... more

We checked into this hotel for one night and checked out the next morning. The rooms are well past their best with poor quality bedding and shoddy fixtures and fittings. We discovered that our air conditioning did not work and when we brought this to the attention of the staff we got little more than a shrug. After a very... more

If you're planning to go to Hvar - don't hesitate, go now! It's a really beautiful town and the Croatian archipelago is great. We will definitely go back there someday. However, next time around we will not stay at Hotel Croatia. The hotel is ok, but not good value. Both the staff and the hotel itself feels old and tired.... more

Once we found the hotel, through the narrow streets, we parked under the trees, and strolled into the reception, which was luke warm. It's actually quite dark inside, the rooms are simple, but they've certainly seen better days, but the aircon does work. It's not as bright, clean modern as other hotels, but it's a great location. Just walk down... more

The hotel is in a super location with great views. The gardens in part were pretty but in others were unkempt. The staff were an unhappy bunch, initially we thought language was a problem but then were told that the owners had problems, it was no excuse for rudeness, bad temper & poor service. The evening meals were not good,... more

I stayed in hotel Croatia last summer, had a really good time, I found the hotel quite charming , it is an old hotel , looks rather like a big mansion converted into a hotel. OK it is not 5star but you can sit in the garden , have your breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden/sea. Staff were very... more

I am shocked to read some of the reviews below mine. Hotel Croatia is great. Myself my partner and our young baby visitied last April. I have never felt so welcome. The staff did everything posible to make your stay fantastic and it was! The scenery from every balcony, window and of course the gardens of the hotel was lovely. Although... more

We arrived in Hvar in the afternoon after enjoying a beautiful ferry-ride from Split. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the town, so is free from noise from the harbour, and offers some amazing views. Our room was very basic - the bed comfortable but the bathroom was appalling. Our shower actually fell out of the wall... more

I feel I must write to defend the hotel croatia and Cavtat in general. First, the hotel, We stayed there twice - the staff are absolutely lovely - we knew our waitress and waiter by name - the couldn't do enough for us - a smile and friendless will go a heck of a long way. The hotel itself is... more

Croatia is a beautiful country. Cavtat is a very small pretty fishing village which has become popular since Roman Abramovich has bought property there - so suddenly there are glamorous yachts in the harbour and it all looks very much like the south of france - but the restaurants (about ten of them) all provide the same menu and soon... more
