Again, another self-claimed 5-star hotel. Stayed 1-night, part of a tour group. A generous 3-stars at most. The positives: It had a very grand and spacious lobby with a nice seating area. Walking distance to old city was very convenient. Literally right around the corner to shops and restaurants. If you don't want to walk you can pay a small... More

This hotel is right next to the old city, which is a wonderful, vibrant place to visit. The hotel seems like it could be from the turn of the century, but it is just a few years old and quite...interesting. The rooms were fine, perhaps looking and feeling a little old and worn for their age, but my sense is... More

We have just recently traveled to Yunnan Province in China and had a lovely time in several great hotels. We stayed at a real 5 start hotel in Lijiang and a beautiful boutique hotel in Shangrilah. We ended our trip in Dali and had the terribly bad luck of staying at this horrible hotel which ruined the end of our... More

The only good thing about this hotel are the rooms. It's got everything you need in a 5 star hotel, but wait, half the gym is broken, the spa is too expensive and try to stay away from the beautiful ladies there. The bathrooms have NO soap to was your hands with and the floor is pretty dirty. There is... More

The hotel has the good location near the city wall so you can walk around to the walking street easily. It look like it will be a great hotel looking from the outside. The hotel itself is very big and wide spread. So you need a long walk from the lobby to your room (with steps and slope). The cleanliness... More

This is the worst hotel that we had stayed in our recent trip to China (we stayed at 16 different hotels). Room was small & crowded. Carpet was dirty & filthy. Broken furniture (armrest). Toilet overflowed & water running continuously. Ceiling exhaust grill was not installed properly - hanging from ceiling. Black / brown mold in shower stall. Bug (cockroach??)... More

This is a vast hotel that captivates a guest. Checking-in is efficient and the way to the rooms is fascinating: it is a long walk beside an artificial waterway that is lined by shops selling a variety of goods ranging from bottled water and wafers to extremely expensive jade and marble figurines and tables. The rooms are large and well-appointed... More

Last month just got invited by the Local Government for some China International event. Then we stayed for one night in this hotel since we were having a tour where Dali was within the itinerary. The local guide were quite successful convincing about the hotel on our way to the hotel. It said that Regent hotel has 4 elements; Wind,... More

Check-in took well over 20 minutes. Reception staff were very inexperienced. Rooms were rather big but very tired and old. This hotels needs a revamp and a good makeover to deserve 5 stars. Furniture was old and the TV was still a box. I've never stayed at a 5 star hotel with still a box as a TV. We checked... More

This is almost the only choice of a better hotel if you are staying in Dali. The hotel is quite "old" and many furniture/fixture in the room are dated. If you are not that lucky and assinged a room at the end of a corridor, the condition could be even worst because the room is the smallest among all and... More
