Jim's Tibetan hotel is very pretty and conveniently close to the old town. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the garden and toys for the kids are cool although the swings are a bit odd. Jim serves a good selection of food in case you don't want to go out. But the best part of the hotel is Jim... More

Charmingly decorated rooms and good home cooking. No fear of getting lost in the bathroom! It's all very homespun, with mum doing breakfast, sister popping by for a chat and Jim entertaining his mates in the parlour. Brilliant location just next to the old city. I just wish Jim would cut down on the smoking a bit.

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the Tibetan ambience. It's a great location for exploring the old city. Jim arranged a tour to small villages for us which was one of the highlights of our stay in Dali. The driver was excellent and drove with great care - unlike some Chinese taxi drivers I have ridden with. The rooms have... More

Jim's is a super place, great rooms, lovely and clean and cozy, plenty of hot water and electric blanket on the bed so you are never cold. It was quiet being winter and everyone helpful, especially his lovely smiling Mum that makes his famous breakfast pancakes. Just a 5 min walk from the gate at the south end of the... More

My stay at Jim's Tibetan Hotel in Dec was nothing short of an extraordinarily pleasant experience. Arriving on the wee hours of a cold winter morning, I was allowed to leave my luggages and showed to my room immediately by his friendly, english-speaking staff. Everything that I'd read about Jim and his now famous hospitality are true. Where there are... More

Jim is a great host, you feel like being at home. He is 100% available which is great to organise guided tour around Dali or discuss about the region. The prices of the tour or bike rental (I recommend spending a day biking around Erhai lake) are very competitive. We will come back !

Good location. Large rooms. Good food. The best thing about Jim's Tibetan Hotel is the owner and manager, Jim. He is a kind and generous person with a Chinese-Tibetan heritage whom has lived a very interesting life. He also guides tours around Dali, which are more interesting than Dali itself.

My son and me stayed at Jim's Tibetan Hotel for two nights in October 14. Jim, the owner, speaks English very good and is keen to help with almost everything, e.g. trips, transports etc. The rooms are quite nice as well, as they have radiators and heating blankets, which makes them very comfortable especially on cold days. The rooms are... More

My sister and I recently stayed at Jim's Hotel in Dali and it was great. The room was huge- actually two beds in two separate rooms- and very comfy. The room had some pretty details and the outdoor hallway was lovely! They have a rooftop where you can relax and look at the stars (and giant Cang Shan mountain range)... More

Had debated between a 3 or 4 but went with a 3. We stayed for 2 nights in October this year after reading all the reviews. I think that yes it is a bit more expensive than other places in Dali but Jim's English is great and he can arrange car and driver for you. He was a bit expensive... More
