We had a room with a queen size bed on the second floor. The hotel lobby and the rooms are nice and clean but the shower looks a bit used. The wifi only worked by accessing the router from other rooms with weak signal. The phone didn't work either. We didn't appreciate that Jim smoked while serving dinner. The location... More

Stayed here with a friend. The room was unclean, TV didn't work but that seems to be a regular thing looking at all the other reviews. The bedlinen was filthy, and so was the toilet. The shower was old and grubby. The whole place is a maintenance nightmare. Jim sleeps in the reception area and continually smokes even when serving... More

Stayed there for a few nights. Room are good size. TV and wireless didn't work. I had to rely on wireless a few floor down. As we were out the whole day, it didn't really bother us much. Garden was a bit run down. On the website it mentioned a playing area for the kids. As Jim's kids are grown... More

We stayed at Jim's Tibetan Hotel for three nights, travelling to Dali on the overnight train from Kunming. Feeling tired and grubby we didnt regret organising the transfer from the station to the hotel. We were shown to our spacious room immediately and were grateful for the opportunity to shower and get ourselves organised before the formalities of checking in.... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Jim's hotel for two nights. The room was quite huge, we actually got three beds (two regular beds and one king size bed in a second room; we had only booked a double bed). The bathroom was okay with and older shower that didn't work as I wished (just not enough pressure). There are... More

Jim's Tibetan hotel is very pretty and conveniently close to the old town. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the garden and toys for the kids are cool although the swings are a bit odd. Jim serves a good selection of food in case you don't want to go out. But the best part of the hotel is Jim... More

Charmingly decorated rooms and good home cooking. No fear of getting lost in the bathroom! It's all very homespun, with mum doing breakfast, sister popping by for a chat and Jim entertaining his mates in the parlour. Brilliant location just next to the old city. I just wish Jim would cut down on the smoking a bit.

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the Tibetan ambience. It's a great location for exploring the old city. Jim arranged a tour to small villages for us which was one of the highlights of our stay in Dali. The driver was excellent and drove with great care - unlike some Chinese taxi drivers I have ridden with. The rooms have... More

Jim's is a super place, great rooms, lovely and clean and cozy, plenty of hot water and electric blanket on the bed so you are never cold. It was quiet being winter and everyone helpful, especially his lovely smiling Mum that makes his famous breakfast pancakes. Just a 5 min walk from the gate at the south end of the... More

My stay at Jim's Tibetan Hotel in Dec was nothing short of an extraordinarily pleasant experience. Arriving on the wee hours of a cold winter morning, I was allowed to leave my luggages and showed to my room immediately by his friendly, english-speaking staff. Everything that I'd read about Jim and his now famous hospitality are true. Where there are... More
