Am writing this from the hotel bed. Well worth the money. Good view and convenient. Free shuttle as well to the ancient town. Couldn't get the wifi though, plenty of facilities with the likes of gym, a billiard room etc. Recommended for short family stays.

This was one of the biggest hotels on our group tour through China. The reception area was big and airy with seats / benches to sit on. In a small coffee shop drinks were availble as well as a small selection of snacks.WIFI is good in the reception area but medicore in our room. The reception desk was helpfull and... More

The breakfast is very Chinese if you want more than fruit juice, cereal and toast, but it's difficult to find other negatives about this typical Chinese hotel. It is not a five star city centre business hotel and doesn't sell itself as such. Rooms and beds are large enough, the latter being the hardest yet in China, but we're used... More

We had been led to believe that Dali would be quaint, small and old. One part of it is! And that part is delightful - old streets filled with markets, vendors and eating places ( not restaurants!) The new town of Dali is yet another work-in-progress industrial development. The hotel foyer was impressive with pink terraces reaching to the roof.... More

Was impressed by the quaint look of the hotel with lots of flowers at the lobby. The surrounding sceneries were beautiful as well. Rooms were slightly below average and were outdated. Restaurant buffet breakfast had a wide selection of local dishes and fruits . However staff at restaurant were quite rude. Did not enjoy the food except for the fruits.... More

Huge foyer filled with potted flowers/plants. There are no roll-on bed or triple room in hotel, so three of us were given a family room (two adjoining rooms with total four big bed but one master toilet). Rooms & toilet are clean with amenities provided. TV programs are mostly Chinese except for 1-2 channels on English shows. Breakfast spread is... More

Modern hotel, nice rooms & bathroom (toilet paper seems to be rationed!), good bath & shower. TV has 20 channels but all Chinese - good if you can understand it? Good comfortable King size bed Evening meal was tasteless - wouldn't recommend it! Food is dubious at breakfast as it is buffet style and could have been standing around or reused.... More

Arrived from a very early flight, in the pouring rain... so the first impression was hard to make. BUT, the staff had graciously prepared our room for an early check in. When the rain stopped, we saw a gorgeous lake view. The room has a comfortable king bed, but all the other furniture seems out of the late 70's...not bad,... More

Stayed in June 2012 (so this is a little late) as part of a Wendy Wu tour. Had read some very disappointing reviews about this hotel, especially the breakfast, so not looking forward to it. However, the management had apparently changed and it seemed that it was in the process of changing its name to the Asia Star Garden Hotel... More
