The good: it's location, just off the main pedestrian road; it has different entrances, even a Blackfoot entrance that gives directly on the main pedestrian road; it has a very picturesque bar/coffee shop just above the lobby with live classical music in the evening; westerners have breakfast in a quiet and beautiful courtyard/ Chinese in a huge and noisy room;... Our families stayed in this hotel for two days . It's a very classic and nice local style garden hotel . We love the flowers and bonsai in the yards . The western restaurant only for foreigners , is very quite . I can read the news on my ipad , the WIFI is very fast ,cool ! Outside of... More

A very centrally placed large traditional courtyard hotel right in the centre of Dali and convenient for walking round the city. Our ground floor room, comfortable and well equipped in a modern annexe, was very noisy, with travellers coming and going and staff talking loudly in the corridor and outside the window through the night. Lots of little steps up... More

The Hotel grounds are beautiful and extensive. Guests cross the court yards at all hours and therefore a peaceful night is out of question if your room on the ground floor. I found my room to be alright, except for a very dirty carpet. Breakfast is...as many have said, quite meager. I tried the Western section and due to low... More

This hotel is deceptively large. It's centrally located in the middle of old town which makes it very convenient day and night. The rooms are okay, the wifi is unreliable, but the minute you step off the streets and into the 'compound' you really do feel like you've entered an oasis in a city. A cautionary tale: A waitress tried... More

This is a beautiful property well located with back entrance on Foreigner Street in the heart of Dali Ancient Town, built in multiple two-story courtyards in traditional Bai architectural style. It had comfortable beds, but an uncomfortable tub shower with cloth shower curtain and feet-unfriendly ruts in the bathtub. Breakfast is unfortunately separated into Chinese and Western dining rooms. The... More

As other reviewers have noted this hotel is located in the heart of the old town, which is great for access but not so good for noise, as people use the hotel as a bit of a thoroughfare to access the old town shopping streets and the night market. The rooms are located around many small courtyards, that themselves are... More

Have never wrote a condemning review, - travelled the world. Toured China for 4 weeks during April / May 2014. This was the worst hotel. Very noisy, Chinese shouting in the corridors early morning and during the night. Rooms very basic. Breakfast served in the open courtyard, - very limited choice and cheap juice / bacon / coffee. Would never... More

So conveniently situated in the old city, traditional style. Breakfasts were very average if you were not Asian, tables not clean and staff slow to serve, very noisy area. The walk into the nearby streets eye opening, so clean with many colourful shops and so many different types of colourful dressed people. We loved the traditional styled rooms, bathrooms a... More

It was very cold during our stay there. I like how the hotel utilized limited space to creating a beautifully-decorated layout yet every bit functional. Its proximity to the night market is a major advantage. Overall I'm quite satisfied & would recommend it to leisure travelers.
