While on a ten week tour of Asia, I stayed at this hotel for one night while transiting to the Mt Everest area. The hotel itself is amazingly clean, the rooms are big and the breakfast was very good! Shigatse, however, can be either seen as a very cheesy border town or an exciting place where goods are trucked across... More

Situated on the main road in a rather dowdy city. Not expecting much outside Lhasa we were surprised to find beautiful large bedrooms with spectacular painted detail on walls and ceilings. Immaculate bathrooms with adequate hot water and a hairdryer. Air conditioning, a fridge and kettle . Helpful & friendly staff there are a number of restaurants along the road... More

Our expectations on the level of hotel accommodation outside of Lhasa was not very high, so we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Yes it does feel "state run", the lobby is pretty ornate & colourful, the room furniture is a throw back from the 80's, and overall the building / facilities need modernising / updating. We decided prior to... More

My checklist for a hotel in Tibet are - heat in the room, hot water, and clean rooms. In our two stays, we had moderate heat in the room, hot water some of the time, and clean rooms. This leaves me with 2 stars. Much like the rest of Tibet, there isn't wi-fi in the room, so you have to... More

Shops nearby entrance turn into hooker places after dark + hotel facilities are pretty worn out but spacious and colorfull - Wifi in lobby only, - rooms are small, + room was warm, - room was too warm, + room was rather clean, - esp. furniture and carpets pretty worn-out, - - breakfast is very poor, + fair value for... Again I was pleasantly surprised, based upon earlier reviews. Similar to the Gyangtse Hotel, it had a very ornate lobby, was large, and only partially open due to it being November. The staff was friendly, the breakfast plentiful with lots of choices, and the room comfortable. There was a working toilet, lots of hot water, and good light coming in... More

I just laughed out loud when I read another reviewers comment about a hotel in Tibet. She said you need to always add ( in Tibet ) as of course the hotels here are not going to be the same as the ones we stay in elsewhere. So with that in mind this was the best hotel we stayed in... More

From what I hear it is one of the best hotels in Shigatse so I guess you rate it base on what you compare it too. The lobby is beautiful, wifi only in the lobby, breakfast is decent. Rooms are ok but the carpet was fitlhy and the toilet was leaking. Again, there are not many choices in Shigatse so... More

I stayed her twice, to and from the Mt. Everest Base camp which, unfortunately, was encased in clouds and rainy. Go round #2 was much better than #1. I arrived in the afternoon and was told dinner was available until 8 PM. I thought the hotel had a restaurant as they do provide breakfast. I went down to dinner at... More

I always feel the need to put in the disclaimer "for Tibet" in any reviews of the area, but in this case I may just have to skip that. (It's rather a back-handed compliment like, "Gee, for a fat girl, you sure don't sweat much!") Our expectations for accommodations in Tibet were set very low by our travel agent, but... More
