I stayed here on a tour to Everest Base Station. I found the place satisfactory. The staff were helpful and friendly. I arrived late and left early. Meals were OK. Smorgasbord for breakfast was filling. Although the Chinese (not Tibetan) assistant roused on me for wanting to put my bread through the toaster twice. I said, "I won't tell you... More

Finding a nice hotel in Tibet can be a challenge, but the Shigatze hotel provides just such a place in the city with good access. The rooms are well appointed, although double beds are a box spring only, they are surprisingly comfortable. The location provides Internet, but access is often limited as you move away from the main lobby area.... More

this eponymous hotel inspired little enthusiasm, attempts to impress by size and gaudy decoration did not work; admittedly we were visiting in the low season and were the only people staying so meals were desultory in the vast unheated dining room room simple and adequate, lukewarm water derelict depressed pall, adequate if needs must and the main attraction of the... Stayed as part of a tour group. The foyer was very grand but the rooms were more basic but comfortable and clean, with a good bathroom and plenty of hot water. My room was at the back, so was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with mostly Tibetan food.

We stayed here for one night and hotel was clean and comfortable, with nice duvets though rock hard beds. Our room was noisy with noise from the street and turning the tv on proved impossible. The breakfast good and the whole place was very busy but functioned well. The location was not great. However it felt like a step up... More

I stayed in this hotel for two nights while touring in this area of Tibet with Phendhay Snow Land Travels as arranged by AsiaTrans Pacific. It has a lot of murals around the hotel and is quite colorful. We had one breakfast here, standard breakfast buffet with a large spread, and on the second morning, a very early departure for... Situated on the main road in a rather dowdy city. Not expecting much outside Lhasa we were surprised to find beautiful large bedrooms with spectacular painted detail on walls and ceilings. Immaculate bathrooms with adequate hot water and a hairdryer. Air conditioning, a fridge and kettle . Helpful & friendly staff there are a number of restaurants along the road... More

Our expectations on the level of hotel accommodation outside of Lhasa was not very high, so we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Yes it does feel "state run", the lobby is pretty ornate & colourful, the room furniture is a throw back from the 80's, and overall the building / facilities need modernising / updating. We decided prior to... More

My checklist for a hotel in Tibet are - heat in the room, hot water, and clean rooms. In our two stays, we had moderate heat in the room, hot water some of the time, and clean rooms. This leaves me with 2 stars. Much like the rest of Tibet, there isn't wi-fi in the room, so you have to... More

Shops nearby entrance turn into hooker places after dark + hotel facilities are pretty worn out but spacious and colorfull - Wifi in lobby only, - rooms are small, + room was warm, - room was too warm, + room was rather clean, - esp. furniture and carpets pretty worn-out, - - breakfast is very poor, + fair value for...
