I would advise anyone considering booking here not to bother. We booked and paid a deposit 6 days in advance. The day before our arrival, we received a 1 line email stating that the booking was cancelled due to a "pricing issue" - a price that was given and agreed for when the booking was initially made. This meant that... More

For the one night we were in jiuzhaigou this was an absolutely fine option, we bargained for a decent room for 100rmb (it was the off season) which had 24 hour hot water and electric blankets. Wifi was only in the lobby. We forgot to check out the night before we left (leaving about 8.30am) and ended up with a... More

When we arrived, there were three staffs in the reception and handling check-ins but was exceptionally chaotic. They prefers to deal with Chinese guests more than foreigners. Only one staff understands very little English. He doesn't seem to bother looking at our booking reference and answered not from them. After continuous explaining, he mentioned that the rate is not correct.... More

We stayed in this hostel in September for 2 nights. It was booked by travel agent in Chengdu. We had a triple room and 2 double rooms. The condition of the rooms were terrible with most of the bulbs blown. When we requested them to change a new bulb...the answer was no stock. There were not properly clean. There were... More

There was only one guy there who spoke English. When he wasn't at the front desk, we were completely screwed. The other receptionists were not a bit sympathetic with those who didn't speak Chinese. They quickly turned away to deal with other Chinese guests. In general, everywhere, non-Chinese travelers were treated like inferior to Chinese ones. The room was quite... More

We had the most expensive rooms the hostel offered (but still cheaper than elsewhere) and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room actually was. Extremely comfortable bed. The only "issue" was the bathroom floods and everything gets wet every time you take a shower but we booked knowing this so that was no problem. Always had hot water with... More

The room was fairly nice, although the view was of a brick wall. The bathroom was a wet room, which got wet every time you took a shower. You can wash your clothes for free, but there is nowhere in the room to let them dry.

We chose this hostel without high expectations : the price was ok, 800m from the park entrance and the reviews were something better than in other hotels. Well, the service was ok and the staff kind (not english speaking though), the rooms and bed are standard (even if the deco is really cheap) but the bathroom was really awful :... More

Zhuo Ma seems to be one of the big entrepreneurs in the valley and Jiuzhaigou Kou. They now run a big and expanding hostel with a number of brand new rooms (as of July 2012). They also run a unique Tibetan restaurant down the main road and offer a range of services to travellers such as arranging chauffeurs, accommodation inside... More
