I have had many home stay experiences in China, including the Tibetan part, and Zhuo Ma has been the worst. Though it is appreciable in the Jiouzhaigou area as it is far from the touristic area, Zhuo Ma is not welcoming at all!!!! Do prefer the youth hostels in Penfeng, where you will find helpful and nice people. The purpose... More

After making a clear plan with the woman from Zhuo Ma, I flew to Jiuzhai airport, and explained to the shared van driver to drop me off at a particular intersection as instructed by the person from Zhuo Ma. From there I was supposed to call Zhuo Ma... but their phone was off. I stood at the intersection AS INSTRUCTED... More

Having lived for a whole year in Shanghai, last June - 2014 - I decided it was time to regain and to nourish my relationship with Mother Nature. Where else if not in the 'Eden of China'? Jiuzhaigou, here I come. When the bus from Chengdu entered the 'Village' I was puzzled: buses, cars, people (a lot!), fancy hotels. Not... More

We were really looking forward to experiencing a real Tibetan stay but this place was an enormous disappointment. We suspect that the many years of being recommended by Lonely Planet has eroded the authenticity of this home stay. This is pretty much a hostel, there is no real actual contact with the 'staff' beyond check-in and check-out procedures and trip... More

Beautiful house and ideal for a 2 night short stay to go on a full day exploration of the park (leave before 6.30 am though unless you want to be stuck in the traffic jam). Yummy food solely to be taken within your group of foreigners and not together with all family members - that is what you can get... More

Relaxing place to stay away from the main Jiuzhaiguo madness. Beautiful village and nearby hills to explore on foot. Family is friendly and each family member has their own roles and responsibilities, service provision could step up a notch. Food was delicious, however, more variety could be provided. We got the same breakfast and dinner 3 days in a row.... More

you will love staying at zhuo ma's if.... *you want to experience juizhaigou away from the crowds. *you appreciate very simple, local cuisine. considering the basic ingredients, we loved the barley bread (we are dying for the recipe!), fresh honey from their bees, eggs from their chickens and stir fried cabbage. *you are willing to wake up and go to... I stayed at Zhuo Ma's back in the summer, and as the title indicates - we had a fantastic time here. I stayed with my then girlfriend, now fiancee, and her roommate. We were all in one room, and while the beds were not luxurious, that is not what we expected of an experience such as this. Zhuo Ma was... More

I was here during off-peak season and most of our stay was just us as the guests. Amma was so friendly. Unfortunately I don't speak Chinese or their local language so I didn't get to know the wonderful stories that some other Tripadvisor reviews have. However, the youngest grandson is so much fun and will talk and talk to you-... More

First things first, I got food poisoning after having eaten entirely their food for the past 5 meals. The beauty of Jiuzhaigou was made harder to appreciate as I had to stop at every bathroom along the way to relieve myself. For the price of 240 yuan per person per night, I was expecting restaurant quality meals and decent service.... More
