I've stayed at the Hotel Highlands twice - once in January 2014 for the BBVA Compass Bowl and again for Valentines Day 2015 because we had so much fun at the bowl game. January was a lot of fun - the hotel was packed and there was a lot going on around the hotel at the bars due to the... More

There was not a shuttle service, which is terrible if you are going to a concert. They were understaffed and did not have enough rooms ready. It was pretty clean except for the coffee maker, and I think they charged me for a K-cup... lame.

We were just passing through and this was ok for one night but I don't think I'd want to stay any longer. The rooms smelt of stale cigarettes and were very dated and tired although it did look very clean and the sheets were spotless. As far as location, it was near enough to everything that you could want for... More

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay! And a big thank you so much for letting us know about the smoke smell, as this has been a non-smoking hotel for nearly 9 years.....we certainly do want to have that terrible smell.... We do hope you will think of us again when passing through, as I... More

This is an ok hotel in a not so nice location, definitely not in a holiday location, we was poorly advised by our tour operator. This hotel has no outside space, no balcony's & no pool, it is more like a business hotel.

Thank you so much for your review, as I do so apologize that you had been misinformed about the hotel, as it was originally build in the late 30's at the Medical Arts Building. In 1986 it was transformed into a hotel. I am sorry to say there was just no where to put a pool~ I do so hope... More

Stayed here to visit some friends for a big party. All of the rooms we had smelled musty and there were none available to be moved to. I never saw a bartender actually man the bar, and the whole hotel setup was very odd.

I cannot describe how much I loved this hotel!! Staff was excellent, every single one that I met provided the best customer service, all the time. From the front desk staff, to the lady in charge of breakfast, they were always delightful! I didn't use the valet, but they always greeted me with a lovely, warm welcome. Hotel room itself... More

Stayed here on a friends recommendation and really enjoyed our stay. Parking can be an issue downtown, but the valet is the way to go. It is an older building but has been updated nicely keeping the feel of a luxury from the past . The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night as we were needing a place to be in Birmingham. I got a discounted rate online and didn’t know the hotel name before I booked. The hotel has a small lobby and check in area, along with a bar and breakfast area. Decor is on the contemporary side of things but was... More

We were in Birmingham for an art fair and stayed in a suite. The living room portion was laid out well but there was a cool light fixture over the sink/coffee area that had a red light bulb installed. Cool effect but you can't see a darn thing. The staff was really nice and Barron, the bartender was delightful. He... More

The Hotel Highland is perfectly located for a visit to downtown Birmingham. The small street frontage belies the beautiful building and luxuries within. The morning of our two-day visit I received a call from the staff asking if I would like a free upgrade to a luxury king suite with a separate living area and pull out couch. Yes please!... More
