I stayed here once back in 2005. At the time, I think it was managed by Crowne Plaza. It was as good as you expect any Crowne Plaza. I really liked it. I went back years later with a friend. I kept bragging about it and how nice it was - and right in downtown Birmingham. Wow, was I surprised... More

Like With Anything Built In 1925 Its Not Going To Be Brand New. I love the richness of it. How I can go there and each time I'm there I feel like I have been taken back in time. With remodeled rooms and the beautiful view how can you go wrong. The rooftop bar is a hidden gem and I... More

We stayed one night in a King room. The lobby was nice with all the marble and high ceilings. The desk clerk was very pleasant. Yes, there is a parking charge of $7.50 but big deal. The parking is right outside the door! Our room faced 5th Ave but we didn't hear any street noise. The bed was comfy and... More

This place has seen better days, but if you like an "old, faded glory" sort of hotel this is the place. It's clean and it's quiet to sleep, but the drowsy-eyed receptionist let us know that there would be a $75 charge if we were to "tear up" the room, which set a sinister tone for the visit. Decent value... More

I sleep in hotels about 20 nights a month. This was definitely no Ritz, but it is in a great location close to the Alabama Theatre and near some great restaurants and bars. The room was old, but clean. The shower was hot and had great water pressure and they even have bath and body work soaps. It does the... More

We were attending a show at the Alabama Theater in downtown Birmingham and wanted to walk instead of worrying about parking and the cost etc. The hotel is historic, the lobby takes you back to the roaring 20's. The room was clean, the two beds were small but comfortable, the hot water was instantly HOT but the TV was really... More

If you like nasty, dirty ghetto surroundings, you'll feel right at home in the Redmont Hotel. What a colossal disappointment. We saw the ratings and reviews on various sites stating it was a good hotel. Needing to stay near UAB without breaking the bank, we thought we'd enjoy a "boutique" hotel. Redmont is NO boutique hotel. The barren exterior was... More

The room was nice but could use an upgraded TV.. Didn't know until check in that we had to buy a $7.50 parking pass .. Noon check out was nice.. If a few things were upgraded the hotel would be awesome.

On a whim decided to beat the ice storm and head south. Stopped over at Redmont Hotel. Old southern charm. Piano in lobby. Marble floors 20' ceilings. Robb Jarvis greeted us and we immediately felt at home. Beautiful room. I also learned it is under new management.

I'm sure this property was nice in its heyday, but I'm assuming that was in the 1930's. One of the two elevators didn't work during our entire 3-night stay. The other one was out of service for several hours one day. The entire property needs a MAJOR facelift. The carpeting was stained and had an awful musty smell. The worst... More
