I sleep in hotels about 20 nights a month. This was definitely no Ritz, but it is in a great location close to the Alabama Theatre and near some great restaurants and bars. The room was old, but clean. The shower was hot and had great water pressure and they even have bath and body work soaps. It does the... More

We were attending a show at the Alabama Theater in downtown Birmingham and wanted to walk instead of worrying about parking and the cost etc. The hotel is historic, the lobby takes you back to the roaring 20's. The room was clean, the two beds were small but comfortable, the hot water was instantly HOT but the TV was really... More

If you like nasty, dirty ghetto surroundings, you'll feel right at home in the Redmont Hotel. What a colossal disappointment. We saw the ratings and reviews on various sites stating it was a good hotel. Needing to stay near UAB without breaking the bank, we thought we'd enjoy a "boutique" hotel. Redmont is NO boutique hotel. The barren exterior was... More

The room was nice but could use an upgraded TV.. Didn't know until check in that we had to buy a $7.50 parking pass .. Noon check out was nice.. If a few things were upgraded the hotel would be awesome.

On a whim decided to beat the ice storm and head south. Stopped over at Redmont Hotel. Old southern charm. Piano in lobby. Marble floors 20' ceilings. Robb Jarvis greeted us and we immediately felt at home. Beautiful room. I also learned it is under new management.

I'm sure this property was nice in its heyday, but I'm assuming that was in the 1930's. One of the two elevators didn't work during our entire 3-night stay. The other one was out of service for several hours one day. The entire property needs a MAJOR facelift. The carpeting was stained and had an awful musty smell. The worst... More

The room was clean but is in the process of new management and renovations. There was a problem with the elevator and had an extended wait to go to our room but was compensated with a wonderful meal . All the front desk personal was very helpful in any questions we had about Birmingham.

This historic hotel is recently under new management, so I recommend taking older reviews with a moderate level of attention. What I experienced was a comfortable, amazingly priced, and roomy spot to relax and explore this growing mini-metropolis. The exciting part of my stay at the Redmont was the sincere hospitality of the front desk staff and new management, not... More

I was very pleased to have found this hotel, with availability, for the one night I needed it. The evening prior to the Mercedes Marathon. It was reasonably priced and very close to the start/finish of the race. However, when running a race like that, a good nights sleep is mandatory. And you could NOT get one here. And the... More

We have stayed here several times while participating in the Mercedes Marathon but this was our last stay. No clock or radio in the room, no in room coffee service, phone had been removed from the hall and wires were sticking out of the wall, no hangers. And the worst part - there was a gathering of about 20 -... More
