Ok, first of all, the look on the internet is TOTALLY different from what it really is!!! Parking was terrible. In addition to that, there is a night club on the first floor of the hotel, which was not mentioned on the website. The hallways has a disgusting smell. The rooms are very small, with very little light. We had... more

This was probably a good hotel back in the day. The hotel is very run down and old. Only one elevator worked. There were many hallway lights out. It is obvious the owners do not spend any money for upkeep. My room had a excellent view of downtown Birmingham. The room was clean but very worn. My first night was... more

The AltaVista Hotel & Conference Center sits atop Red Mountain, above the city of Birmingham (it is north of Downtown, off of Interstate 65). The location is fine and there are nice views to be had of the city from this property, but not enough to make this place OK for anything other than a single night's stay. I made... more

I had a guest come to come in town and this was the only location I felt my guest would enjoy considering they waited until the last minute to book reservations. Don't do this traveler's. The hotel was in a great location and my guest agreed to that but he was not pleased with the marks and smell of the... more

Anytime a hotel does not have several pictures of its establishment posted on its webpage, it is a sure sign that this would not be a good place to stay. This establishment is run down and not worth making any accommodation reservations - let alone eating the complimentary breakfast. Check-In at 2:30 a. m. after a long 6-hour drive. Settled... more

I had a reservation at the Alta Vista as part of a trip to golf on the Robert Trent Jones course. It seemed affordable (meaning cheap) and decent. That was not the case. First, the hotel itself is located on a dark back road marked by little signs - it's not on a main drag. Second, the rooms smell and... more

My husband and I stayed for one night here and it was very peaceful. The staff that we saw was nice. We received a complimentary coupon for our breakfast and it was really nice also. Our overall visit was very well. more

Pretty good overall. After reading some of the other reviews, I actually booked a backup hotel just in case. I did not need it. The room was clean. The mattresses comfortable. Sheets and pillows were fresh. The view was nice. The breakfast was not so nice. There were 2 small buffet tables with some eggs, sausage and a little bacon... more

I stayed in this hotel back in November and we loved it so much my fiance and I are getting married there on the Garden Terrace. The view is incredible and the service is fantastic. The hotel is not your typical chain hotel which makes it appealing to me. The breakfast was great too! I would recommend it to try. more

Never again will i stay there. The place is really run down, water stains everywhere on the ceilings, very out dated, and the customer service was terrible. Looks nothinglike the pics on internet. The lady over charged us by $70.00 and tried to pocket it. Luckly we caught it before we left. more
