Close enough to the city of Yangshou to cycle/walk to it, but far enough to avoid the tourist crowds and noise. This is a charming place with beautiful views, spacious rooms, kingsize beds, A/C (much needed in Yangshou in August...) and a good restaurant which serves a good continental breakfast; but we also enjoyed some nice Chinese dishes here, like... Pleasant room, great view, wonderful staff, good food, you get the picture. We were told by neighbour’s who had visited that they did not want to leave the Li River Retreat. We stayed at the Retreat on their recommendation and found it to be one of the best places in China. All of China. And we did not want to... More

This is the most amazing review I have ever read for any hotel on Tripadvisor. Normally we read all the reviews and try to improve from people's suggestions, but this review is utterly useless. 1. The "view was not very nice to look at". Really? So the Karst peaks and the Li River is not nice to look at? The... More

I feels so lucky and relieved that I have chosen the right place to stay during my holiday with my family. I traveled with my husband, 3 kids, my sister and my parents. All of us enjoyed the stay very much. Rooms is big, staff are friendly, fried rice is yummy... my parents eat that almost every day during our... More

I recently stayed at the Li River Retreat with my two young daughters, ages 6 and 11. The hotel is set up like a traditional inn and is a few km outside of town, which is part of its charm. (Yangshuo is quite crowded and noisy). Without a doubt - the view of the Gumdrop Mountains and Li River were... More

Li River Retreat is peacefull and just far enough from the busy centre of Yangshuo. The staff speaks good English and is very helpfull. The restaurant is quite good and also offers western food. A continental breakfast is also on the menu. Rooms are spacious and luckily have aircondition (it can be HOT with high humidity outside. Better take enough... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the Li River Retreat in hopes of getting some rest and relaxation away from the city in a natural place. This hotel did not disappoint us. At the Li River Retreat you really are away from the noise, traffic, and bustle. The scenery is very beautiful. While the view of the river itself may... More

After a couple of weeks travelling the big cities of china I was really hoping Li River retreat was going to let me relax and enjoy the natural environment .... and I wasn't disappointed. Its laid back, but at the same time the staff are very attentive and always there. The rooms are big, clean and stylish. And the restaurant... More

There is nothing negative you can think off. With 19 rooms and a little bit out of town (just 15 to 20 minutes on foot) it is a very nice and quiet hotel, with the city of Yangshuo next door. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and maintained. The people spoke English and took care, just like the owner. The... More

We stayed for 5 nights in April. It was a friendly and relaxing stay. We have 2 children aged 13 and 11. I asked for 2 rooms next door to each other, which they were but in fact the rooms were so large we could have comfortably shared one room had we wanted to economise. It was easy to arrange... More
