The problem with Huangshan is that there isn't enough info to prepare you for it. For example it isn't a flat mountain top so that it matters how you ascend the mountain, and you could end up trekking for 3 hrs to your hotel. We were lucky ours was only 20 mins walk away from the North gate ( Taiping... More

After discussing with a guide at the foothill hotel, we booked this hotel for its location. The price was expected since it is a mountain resort. It turned out to be more than what we have expected-especially the decor, it is splendid. The room was decent with all amenities. Food was OK, though a bit pricey. Breakfast about RMB 50/pax,... The rooms in the South Wing are new and furnished to a relatively high standard, but still nothing compared to a luxury hotel. The food in the restaurant is ridiculously overpriced for very mediocre food, compared to other nearby hotels. In terms of location, I think Beihai is slightly better situated for the sun rise.

I did not know there was a 5 star hotel on Mt Huangshan until by pure chance, the original hotel I was booked for had to unexpectedly cancel guest reservations due to maintenance of the nearby cable cars. A last minute switch to Xihai was the best luck I had. Coming to Mt. Huangshan had been a longtime dream so... More

We recently enjoyed a long weekend in the beautiful Huangshan Mountains, Anhui Province in China. Our overnight stay in the Xihai was very nice and comfortable. They even provided parkas for each of us in case the sunrise temperatures were too cold for us! They have a beautiful deck overlooking one of the peaks and are in a perfect location... More

Of course, this is the new building. Unbelievable, no difference than a five star hotel in Beijing or Shanghai. Now, this is up in the summit of Yellow Mountain, so imagine everything has to be transported up there. It is more comfortable than most hotels I stay in China. It is worth the $200/night.

The standard room at Xihai South Wing is fantastic, clean and modern. Comperable to 5 stars chain hotel in big cities. The location is very near with Jade Cloud Peak one of the ideal location to watch sunset and sunrise, only 30 minutes walk. The loby is huge completed with seating lounge, fire place and free wifi. Convinience store is... More

I had read that the mountain-top hotels are poor, so I was genuinely impressed with my room. I asked for the new wing/building and a view. May be that helped because my room was massive, very comfortably furnished (very comfy bed!), the bathroom was huge and the bath a delight after a long days hiking! Not all rooms are the... More

We stayed in the supposedly 5 star section of this hotel, which is said to be the best on the Mountain. That may be, but although this hotel is fine, it certainly isn't five star. The good things. Location on the Mtns is very good, and reasonable distance to hiking trails - note, nothing is close and there are lots... More

Newly renovated rooms. Very comfortable stay. Great view of the mountain. Room rate did not include bfast. One gripe is that it took at least 3.5 hours of hiking in the mountain to get to the hotel from the commonest entry point of the state park. A luggage porter will be nice, even for a fee.
