This experience really exceeded all my expectations. My mother and I stayed here for five nights and should have stayed longer! The guides customize each day so that you feel comfortable yet also encourage you to try harder and tougher routes. It's really not your regular hotel. You wake up energized to try something new. By the end of the... More

explora has a great and well deserved reputation. This one, about 17 years old, is on a large compound on the edge of San Pedro, a charming village. The location is absolutely spectacular at about 10,000 feet looking out to a mountain range over twice as high. The guides help plan hikes that ease you in to the high elevation.... More

Our only regret is not booking more days. We arrived at Atacama from sea level so it took a while to acclimate to the higher altitude. The guides were excellent at helping us with this process, urging water, planning suitable hikes, and introducing us to coca tea when I had a persistent headache. Whenever there was a problem, even one... More

I have been at this hotel 10 years ago and it was perfect. Not anymore. The problem today has to do with the planning of the "explorations", as they call them. The promised initial introduction with the guides is poor. We had to discover the content of each tour on our own, including the observatory, trying to avoid being included,... More

We loved staying here. The hotel was pretty perfect in every way. Even though it was pretty expensive, we thought it was absolutely worth it. Loved the twice-a-day excursions, the food, the wine, the excellent staff, even the very friendly guests! Really, a perfect hotel and place to explore the amazing topography of the Atacama desert. Thank you Imagine Latin... More

Explora offers incredible holidays tailored to your preferences. Rooms are large, comfortable and with beautiful views of volcanos. The food is exceptional. And beautifully presented. If you don't like what is on the menu or have special needs, the chef will accommodate. Portions are reasonable so you can indulge in appetizers, mains and desserts twice a day. You wear off... We capped off 3 weeks in Chile at this Explora property, hotel de Larache. Guest services manager, Alejandra, was fantastic and helped clear up our departure flight snafu. Excellent service, food and welcoming/informative staff. Terrific outings (Geysers/ hot springs, Salar de Atacama, hiking the Salt Range) and amazing star gazing. Be sure to take in the 3rd story observation deck.... More

The hotel needs a renovation, but it still is a great place to stay. Very rustic but inviting. The rate includes all the meals , drinks and tours and they orient its visitors on what to do and make all the arrangements for a very interesting vacation. But a warning, if you are active you will love it, if not,... More

We stayed at the Explora property in Atacama Chile called Larache Lodge at end-November. I’ve been to Explora-Patagonia (Hotel Salta) 2-years past so can make some comparisons. Both are all-inclusive and room/bathroom set-ups are similar, though they seem to try working in local materials and styles. In Atacama, the rooms are set off in a u-shape around a courtyard fronting... More
