We chose La Rose d'Atacama based on write ups in Le Routard, as, I imagine, is the case for many francophone travellers. In a nutshell, La Rose d'Atacama is cold, dirty and poorly maintained. We stayed three nights in two rooms, one with twin beds and a final night in a double bed. The first room had two mouse-holes, that... More

La Rose d'Atacama is an hostal on Gustavo Le Paige, just one block away from busy Caracoles, so it's ideally located: close to everything but quiet nonetheless. The building is an genuine 19th century farmhouse, with one story buildings surrounding a yard that offers a hammock in the garden part, picnic tables, armchairs and firepit. It's great to have meals... More

We spent three nights there in August 2014. "La rose d'atacama" is a little hostel with a calm and comfortable atmosphere. Particularly: they have a very nice and clean "patio", perfect to relax after all the "threatening" impressions form the desert. The two first nights we had a really very small and dark room but this trouble was forgotten after... More

I first stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. Wrong idea for winter and if you have to go to the toilet during the night !!!! It was very far from the room and it's very dark (and freezing). So then I moved to a double room with a bathroom and my life was absolutely better !!! I will... More

We stayed here for about 5 nights and appreciated the comfortable beds, security, cleanliness and low-key atmosphere. Nice shated bathrooms, showers with hot water. Conveniently located with easy access to everything in town. Aureilien gave lots of good information when we checked in. But... Wifi is very poor...only works within about 15 feet of the office in gravel and concrete... More

very pretty hostel with an amazing garden (incl. hammocks, flowers, trees...) - a wonderful oasis and retreat after a day in the desert! simple and clean dormitories with wooden floors. clean and well equipped kitchen in the middle of the garden. clean and generous bathrooms in the garden. of course there are some rules about using the water (no laundry,... Ever wished for a Real cosy rest after an excursion ? Ever dreamed of talking to someone who really nows the place, talk to the locals and guides you with tips and advice ? This place is packed with wanna-be Indiana Jones who would easily take your money . Without Marie and Aurelien (the Hosts ) you'd be condemned to... More

We really liked La Rose. The staff is very nice and gave us a perfect advise to visit the Valle de la Luna. We have been alone there!!! Stay some nights there and ask about ist, perhaps you will receive the same advice ;-)

The beds are good but the pillow will make your breath even harder than it already is in the middle of the desert. The kitchen is good. The problem is that the hostel has a lot of unnecessary rules, like you can't bath after 10pm, even though the shower is far away from the bedrooms. A woman from the staff... More

If listed under Hotel I wouldn't categorized it as such Rose d'Acatama is much more a Hostal I first contacted them by Email but being a short notice I gave them a call. Aurelien, one of the partner , was about to reply to me and inform that he had only a room for a night but will try to... More

Hi "05toes", Thanks for your comment. And thank you for inform passagers than our place is an HOSTAL (and not an hotel). We didn't put our hostal on this website, so it's not us who choosed that category. All the best for you, and see you one day...! More
