Brilliant location and the tours take you to amazing places. The hotel is well laid out and it looks all set to be a 5 excellent experience. The reality was it was close to a 3. Saved to a 4 by well meaning staff and the effect of the location. There were three main problems. First the rooms were dark... More

The hotel is located in a red canyon from which you can see the snow capped Andes mountains. It is architecturally in keeping with its surroundings and the buildings are low rise, tasteful and free from desert dust. It is located approximately 30/40 minutes walk from San Pedro (depending on time of day) as the desert sun can be fierce... More

We had heard of the beauties of the Atacama Desert and so arranged to stop over here for several days on our way through to Bolivia. Like all South American hotels we stayed in we found the service from the staff universally personal and excellent. The hotel is sited in a valley affording spectacular views from any position. Our stay... More

This was my second stay at Alto Atacama and it is still a charming desert oasis. The rooms are wonderfully styled to the desert experience. The cuisine is superb, featuring local produce and each dish beautifully explained by the friendly warm wait staff. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and 'simpatico' and the excursions are amazing. So many highlights in the... More

Me and my wife had a wonderful experience at this place. The Staff is very friendly and make you feel like home. I felt a bit spoiled to be honest as there were no NOs on our requests. We also liked the design which goes very well along with the characteristics of the desert. Another strong point is the tours.... More

We spent 5 days in Alto Atacama Desert Lodge. It was an amazing experience! The staff was very professional and friendly. All tours were very well organised and the guides superb! Knowledgable and very pleasant. The food...also 5*! Not the cheapest place on earth but considering the service, the food and the quality of the premises... Worth every penny! If... More

The physical location of this lodge is very spectacular. It sits in the center of a large, red canyon. This is also a bit of a problem since the lodge is located some distance from San Pedro. In several instances my wife and I were left waiting for the shuttle to arrive. One time for 40 minutes. Another time we... More

A very confortable hotel in San Pedro. Great location but be careful as it is at a significant distance from the village (you need transport to go there from the hotel) Very pleasant bedroom and Bathroom. Nice property. Food is ok. Two regrets: - wi-fi coverage is very poor and should be improved - service is nice but not enough... More
