I spend 4 months in Buenos Aires during their summer and need to leave the country and come back to renew my visa. Usually I go to Uruguay, but I saw this lodge in a travel magazine and decided to try it.....and I am so glad I did. Everything was highly organized which made it very easy to come for... More

I went last May with my sister for a short getaway. Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & spa is beautiful and unique, our plan included 3 meals a day and exciting tours during the day, such as biking to a salt lake, sunset by a valley, hiking, and visiting local old churches, etc. One night we had outdoor barbecue, which was... My wife and I spent 6 nights here in late December 2014, during Christmas. The property is set in a canyon about a 10-minute ride from San Pedro de Atacama. We flew into Calama from Santiago and were greeted by a member of the staff, and then driven to the lodge. It's about an hour drive from the Calama airport.... More

This is a great place. Very well run in a 'desert' location. The staff were consistently helpful and the guides very informative about the local area. Any odd problem, like the toilet blocking, was fixed in a flash and my partner's lactose free requirements were smoothly dealt with. Expensive but worth the money.

My husband and I spend 5 nights at Alto Atacama, including new year's eve. As it is high season, is mandatory to have the full board and all the tours included in the price. The hotel is beautiful, very comfortable rooms and a good structure. As new year is a very busy season, the hotel was full and all the... More

1) Hospitality - Extremely Good (they get out of their way to please you-really very nice people); 2) Accommodations - Very Good room that fit 2 adults and a 15 yr old (large extra bed). Bathroom was particularly good (big-efficient-charming); Room could be more brightly lit and have more electrical outlets to charge appliances. US plugs need adaptors! Overall very... More

We were a big group (17) and a very active one too in a busy season, but that wasn't a problem for the hotel. We did almost every activity the hotel had to offer because we were there for 6 nights and had a great time in this amazing place. The staff is very attentive. The activity coordinator was very... Concept and location are pretty nice. Unfortunately, Alto Atacama does not live up to its claim and potential as a premium offering. The cooking is volatile; service and facilities lack attention to detail. Some of the excursions and hikes offered are phenomenal but you have to be somewhat insistent in order to get them organised for you. If you just... More
