I loved the places. Lovely and helpful staff, very clean, great breakfast, and confortable beds. Good size lockers, big enough for a bagpack. Little terrace and living room to chill. Kitchen in the small side. Great location: walking distance to bus station and city center.

El Arbol was the first hostal were I stayed in Chile during a round trip of 1 month. I had a pleasure stay in this hostal. The staff was friendly and helpfull, there was a nice breakfast with fresh juice, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was easy to met new people. I would come back here... More

Sometimes, just sometimes, you're lucky enough to find a hostel that has just the right combination of amenities, ambience and location. El Arbol is it. Located in the central area of picturesque La Serena, the hostel is close to attractions, the supermarket, malls and the bus station, and is tucked away in a quiet lane off the busier main road.... Overall hostel was very nice. It was Extremely clean and very quiet. The only complaint was that we found the owner a little unfriendly and unhelpful. I think she was a bit preoccupied with carrying out some renovations to the hostel. There was a different lady working there in the evening who was extremely pleasant. Breakfast was also decent.

We booked a private room which was very cosy with a really comfy bed. It's a converted house and so whilst the kitchen and bathroom are small it has a really nice homely feel with a nice fireplace which makes a change from normal hostels and shabby hotels. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was decent. It's very well... More

My friend and I road tripped from Santiago and called the same day we wanted to arrive. The woman we spoke with said she would be there until 9PM and we arrived 2 minutes before. Even though she was about to leave for the night, she was patient, kind and very helpful. I was able to park my car in... More

The hostel was clean at all. The beds are very comfortable and there were enough bed lines as it became very cold in the night. Enough warm water in the shower and the staff were always very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was simple, but very tasty with fresh made juice. I’d only dislike the kitchen as it was very... We stayed 3 nights in a double bedroom with shared bathroom. It was probably our best hostel in Chile. Pros - Confortable beds - Rroom and common area were clean - Good location : 5 minutes from the city center, 5 minutes from the bus station to Vicuna/Elqui valley and 15 minutes from the bus terminal - English speaking staff... This hostel was similar to a home-stay in many ways with the family living above the common areas, & family members forming the staff of the hostel. We arrived early- after yet another crappy bus ride- from Valpariaiso & Juanita (SUPER CUTE LADY) kindly showed us to the TV room while we waited for our beds to be prepared. This... More

Stayed here for a few days. Love the garden, love the atmosphere , and the cleaning and breakfast woman was very kind. I found the beds to be old and uncomfortable though, and the rooms were quite crowded. Great location though, with the beach, the centre, and the bus station close by.
