Helpful staff, and clean and comfortable room (stayed in private twin room). Nice quiet road not far from main roads. Easy walk into town centre. There's another hostal apparently by the beach, but we didn't see that one. Nice patio area out back for hanging out / smoking. Met nice people from over North and South America and Northern Europe.... More

Right between the beach and a commercial center with a supermarket and a mall, it has everything someone looking to chill out wants. It's quiet, clean, the best staff I've encountered in any hostel in Chile, a good kitchen and common space, and a very peaceful environment at all times. I could recommend going to La Serena just to hang... More

Although I wasn't a fan of La Serena I really liked this hostel. It's very small and feels like you're staying in someone's house rather than a hostel, because really you are! The staff were all very nice and welcoming. Good wifi, comfy beds, good kitchen and nice breakfast.

This hostel is beautiful inside and out: it is small colonial style characterful house in a quiet picturesque neighbourhood; the house is covered in lovely flowers. Inside, a warm welcome awaits at reception. Check in is quick and easy. We booked two double rooms, which were clean, cosy and very comfortable with lovely views over the Japanese gardens. The breakfast... More

Breakfast was excellent. Great variety with fresh juice, good bread and jams, oatmeal (!), cereal, and on one day scrambled eggs (the other day was cheese). Bed was comfortable, though locker was a bit small. The hostel also helped me book a tour through the Elqui Valley, which I enjoyed. Good location, close to the bus terminal.

We stayed here in a double room for a couple of days last February (and it is a peak season in Chile!). The place is cozy, peaceful and clean; the rooms are small but cozy with comfy beds and clean. It feels like home, also b/c the staff is super friendly and available to help. The breakfast is delicious with... More

I liked this hostel very much and would recommend it to anyone. the location is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. breakfast always included a fresh juice, plus bread, marmelade, cheese&ham or eggs and cereals. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but there is a nice living room and a dining room that you... More

We stayed in a bungalow near the beach. It was totally cute. The owners and employes were very friendly and always willing to help with advices on where to go out or what beach to visit. Communication in english was no problem at all. It was avery warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for the great time.

The El Arbol hostel gave me a sense that I was living at a home away from home. It is not a huge hostal, but that perhaps is part of its charm. I stayed in the outside dorm rooms (kind of like in a granny-flat type arrangement). It had a modern, self-contained bathroom (always plentiful hot water). Inside the main... More
