Stayed here after being referred by the staff at Kaday Aung Hotel in Bagan, stating it was a "sister hotel". Kaday Aung was delightful and whilst the Teakwood Hotel has many positives, the rooms lacked character. We stayed in the new wing, so room was spacious, very clean with nice bathroom & air conditioning, comfortable bed. It just lacked the... More

The hotel was alright, central, clean, decent. The owner was really helpful and gave lots of tips. Previous reviews are mostly saying how she's pushy, which I didn't think at all. I found her tips quite helpful. She's just very loud, outgoing and enthusiastic which some people might take wrongly. The tour we booked through her was great, we saw... More

The room itself is nice and the location is good - Nyuang Shwe is a small town anyway. We had a room on the top floor and it was spacious with a good bathroom. We just got the night bus from Yangon and as soon as we arrived, the owner's sister was already trying to sell us a tour on the... More

We booked a double room with extra bed at the Teakwood Guesthouse. We arrived at 7.00 am on a nightbus and were welcomed by the owner and could already move into our room. They served us tea and told us we could even have breakfast if we liked. The room was comfortable with red brick walls, two single beds, an... More

Good location, clean and comfortable rooms. Loved the lady who ownes the place. She is very smart, speaks English well. Businesswomen, straight forward, really liked her attitude. Rooms vary in size, look and prize. We stayed behind the reception next to a small garden, we really liked that room.

Stayed for one night, lovely rooms very cosy feel. Owner was very helpful organising flights to Bagan and taxi service, even organised and early breakfast on our day of departure. Would defiantly return, only crisitsism was we had a in room massage which was terrible. I think the two girls sent in where just staff members who giggled as they... More

We had the misfortune to spent two nights in this family run hotel trading as a guesthouse, although the facilities are better then some, it was like staying in a prison camp the matriarch owner seemed to be over your shoulder and watched every move you made, the rooms were only made up if requested. Breakfast was a bit of... More

This is a comfortable and very efficiently run hotel, quite centrally located in Nyaungshwe. My impression during a 3-day / 2-night stay in the town is that most things cost a little more here than in other parts of Myanmar because of the demand created by the sheer number of tourists coming to Lake Inle, so the little extra that... This hotel is the nicest we stayed until now in Burma. If you are a backpacker and still value a little bit of comfort and you do not require all brand new condition you will also like it. The old wooden build fills like a refuge. There is also a brand new brick building with a nice view and better... More

We stayed here because it was a "top choice" in the Lonely Planet, we were not disappointed. The manageress of this family run business is ultra efficient and very helpful even though we were only here to sleep and have breakfast. Also it has a community feel with an inner courtyard leading to the new block where we stayed up... More
