We had the misfortune to spent two nights in this family run hotel trading as a guesthouse, although the facilities are better then some, it was like staying in a prison camp the matriarch owner seemed to be over your shoulder and watched every move you made, the rooms were only made up if requested. Breakfast was a bit of... More

This is a comfortable and very efficiently run hotel, quite centrally located in Nyaungshwe. My impression during a 3-day / 2-night stay in the town is that most things cost a little more here than in other parts of Myanmar because of the demand created by the sheer number of tourists coming to Lake Inle, so the little extra that... This hotel is the nicest we stayed until now in Burma. If you are a backpacker and still value a little bit of comfort and you do not require all brand new condition you will also like it. The old wooden build fills like a refuge. There is also a brand new brick building with a nice view and better... More

We stayed here because it was a "top choice" in the Lonely Planet, we were not disappointed. The manageress of this family run business is ultra efficient and very helpful even though we were only here to sleep and have breakfast. Also it has a community feel with an inner courtyard leading to the new block where we stayed up... More

Look no further for a place to stay a few days in Nyaung Shwe on the shores of Inle Lake. Recently renovated, but looking new, you will find this family run business a welcoming site. Three basic levels of room from deluxe to basic. I opted for the level in-between where I had a large room, big bathroom, cold a/c... More

That was the first time we saw such unpleasant "boss" at this hostel. We have been really surprised by this strange welcoming as peakwood is the the top choice in lonely planet. All prices she sales are over evaluated by 20 or 30% compare to travels agencies. So we do not use her services. Above all she use an agressive... More

The guesthouse is quite big and the owner can be a bit full on, but it is clean and comfortable. The common area was really chilled out and the provided breakfast had more choices than other places we stayed - and it was delicious. Compared to other places we stayed, we found Teakwood to be a little pricey for what... More

This place is run by an owner with a not-so-much Myanmar kindness attitude. If you can deal with a straight forward approach the place is OK to stay. The rooms are Myanmar standard with breakfast included. Please ask for the prices for each service in advance and decide if you can have a better deal outside this place.

We went to Nyaungshwe without any hotel reservation. Big mistake unless you like walking around with your heavy backpacks in the Myanmar heat lol Happy to have found this place. Loved the design of the guesthouse, made me feel like I was in a tree hut (!) If you are lucky enough to get a south facing room, you get... More

Teakwood was recommended to us by fellow travelers and we loved it. We opted for the $40 A/C room (they also have fan rooms for $35 and bigger A/C with view for $50) and were very happy. Clean room, nice bathroom and mini fridge. Breakfasts are one of the best we've had in Myanmar (I recommend the pancakes, cut your... More
