Arriving at our hotel at 2.00am in the morning driving into some seedy neighbourhood we woke up to find that we're quite central. After staying with an Indian family in Guatemala with a concrete floor once you get over the fact your downtown São Paulo and everything is dark and scary at night you will appreciate Hotel Calstar for what... Hotel Calstar is located in a central position, close to groceries, a shopping centre and several eateries during day and night. The hotel is small and essential with a friendly and helpful staff. Our room was extremely small and cleaniness was very good. It would be nice to have some decoration in the reception and in the room.

This hotel is located 5 mins from Republica metro station. Staff very friendly however did not speak English but were very friendly. They allowed us to check in early we arrived. Staff were quick to try to communicate with google translate. Room clean however beds were not very comfortable like it had a latex cover. There was mention of the... More

Calstar Hotel is located close to Pca da Republica, including airport bus terminal (5 - 7 minutes walk). I would be cautious of walking with luggage after dark, however. My deluxe single room was clean and comfortable with a good (altho small) bathroom. Security was good - staff checked your photo before handing over room keys. Staff were friendly and... More

This hotel was one of the worst, most unsafe i felt at in the whole of brazil , and i went everywhere in brazil! I stayed in a favella for a few days, this was worse. The matress was made out of rubber or something similar. It was made from this material so it can be easily changed after the... More

The advantages of Calstar Hotel are: -very central ( 4 minutes walking from Praca da Republica and from the stop of the Airport BusService for GRU; so close to the historical downtown, which can be covered by foot from Estacao Luz to Mercado Municipal, from Patio de Colegio to Rua Augusta, from Viaduto do Cha to Liberdade; 40 minutes walking... Four stars for Calstar. Close to the Praca Republica, Edificio Martinelli and the city center. Plus: Clean, fine with good breakfast. Minus: staff is not speaking English (but they are smiling and convenient).

After traveling a few cities in Brazil, I would say this is definitely a great value hotel. The room is very simple but apparently being renovated recently like many other hotels because of the world cup, not everything in the room works (like the switcher) but the high definition television works, the wifi works and the sheet is clean! Cant... More

Stayed here during the World Cup. Was incredible value- it was actually stupidly cheap. From a value point of view it was amazing value. Hotel itself is quite basic but liked a lot of the little touches- like the free mini toothbrushes and toothpaste. Breakfast which was included was very good. Very near the bus to the airport. Area is... More
