I give this hotel five stars based upon value for the money. I paid 30 USD per night for a quarto (room with separate bath, which I had to myself). The room was clean and basic with a fan (fine at this time of year), TV, a desk, armoire and two double beds. WiFI worked in the room.

For hotels in Sao Paulo, this one is very reasonable. It has a great location, and whilst it's definitely quite dated in it's decor, this adds to it's character. The fridge was so old that it actually looked pretty retro cool!! Having said that, everything works, it's clean, plenty spacious enough and staff are great. Free internet in the lobby...

The Hotel Itamarati lies close to the geograhical centre of Sao Paulo. Its rooms vary in size from just big enough to crash out in to normal. All rooms are clean and hygenic but some are in need of minor repairs eg plaster or chipped basins.
