Stayed here because of a conference in the hotel, so convenience was a major factor. I wouldn't recommend this hotel otherwise. It has a vast and impressive atrium which had the rather musty smell that old air conditioning units give off. We had one of the cheaper rooms but it was seriously ordinary. Stained carpet, tiny uncomfortable bed and in-room... more

1) The floor of my room was dirty. 2) Housekeeping did not make up my room after my first night's stay (I was out of the room by 8AM). 3) My laundry was returned late. 4) The internet connection (+30,00 Real) was extremely slow. I try to rate in terms of value for dollar and I don't place an unreasonably... more

The hotel does look like it is a leftover from the late 70s, early 80s, but then, this is Sao Paolo. The doorman at this place that works during the day shift speaks fluent English, and is very helpful...he's been with Maksoud for over 20 years. We did have the breakfast included, and although it is a bit more expensive,... more

we booked our rooms in US dollars but when we checked out we paid in Reals. After we left we realized that they had ripped us off about four hundred dollars due to the exchange rate difference. We called to fix the problem and the hotel staff gave their word that the difference would be put back on our credit... more

Maksoud Plaza used to be a luxury hotel in the early 90´s. Since them, it seems that the hotel does not receive recent investiment to maintain the old hight quality standards. Its still a five star hotel but it has equal level competitors offering better benefits for best rates. more

Like the previous poster I got a great deal on Expedia for this hotel, roughly $100, but no breakfast. We were charged R50 each for breakfast, there was a large sign to that effect, maybe this varies. This seemed a lot even though the breakfast is very good. We went up the road to the bakery a couple of times... more

When I arrived in Sao Paulo I thought after a 12 hr flight we deserved a decent few nights before we started our road trip, this hotel was the ideal choice. I wont bother with the ins and outs as the website does not lie and the pictures are totally acurate. The views over the city are stunning and the... more

I really liked this place and this it is a steal for what I paid ($110/night). Good service, nice spacious rooms, good location near Avenida Paulista and the surrounding area, close to the metro. Rooms do have the 70s feel but they are very clean, large (pretty big now that I think about it - had a big queen-sized bed... more

We stayed at the Maskoud for just one night on our way to Santos to meet a cruiseship. it was marvelous, clean, quiet and we considered it a gem. The staff & specially the front dest manager was a charm, very helpful with local information. There was some negative things said on the Hotels.com website, but we experienced nothing but... more

Stayed there for one night and got a good impression. Apparently, this is an ex top hotel. Today, it is a bit run down but the rooms are still an excellent value. Extremely impressive lobby too. more
