A nice surprise. My last stay in Maksoud was some 30 years ago and I was afraid the Hotel would be suffering from its age, but everything ran smoothly. Breakfast is excellent and the hotel crew is very nice.

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend having booked a special weekend rate. Overall impressions were that the hotel, though with slightly dated furniture (and by dated I mean 80s), provided excellent service and great value for money. I lived in São Paulo in the 80s and this hotel was the absolute pinnacle of luxury accommodation at the time.... More

Not the cheapest hotel around but far less than some we checked. We got a "Premium" room on the top floor. Very comfortable. Not ultra-modern (my wife had stayed there 30 years before), but not showing its age. Those in the Premium rooms have access to the lounge from 6-8 p.m. with free snacks and beverages, including wine (I didn't... More

Stayed 7 nights at Maksoud Plaza for convention. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Premium room priced around $160 USD includes free breakfast buffet and free Happy Hour 6:00 to 8:00 pm (wine, beer, appetizers, etc.). Internet is free, but somewhat spotty. Front desk staff are helpful, but fluency in English is limited. Nice pool and fitness facility. Would definitely stay... More

This hotel is very large for Brasil size and located one block from Paulista Avenue. Centrally located and in a safe neighborhood for sure. Easy access from the airport via subway, taxi or bus. The hotel itself has a central atrium and rooms all around. The lobby has a restaurant and they have 24h room service. Note the prices for... More

The hotel is well established and in a central area close to the Avenida Paulista. It is only a short ride from the Congonhas (downtown national flights) airport and is close to the Metro. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. I suggest a twin bedded room because the standard double bed is not very big. Showers and... More

The Maksoud Plaza is an older hotel, probably built some decades ago. Apparently there were some upgrades made over time and it still offers well maintained accommodation. The rooms too show some wear, but also remind you of the legendary history of this establishment. I stayed 3 nights and have no complaints. Above all the hotel is located a block... More

Hotel is located just 200 m away from Paulista Avenue, great location. However all the furnitures are outdated should be renewed. Room was ok, clean, restaurant is ok, bar is great, they should have draught beer as well.

It's a "some years ago" luxury hotel. It looks as a good 70's hotel: good materials, majestuosity...but old-fashioned. I imagine such a big hotel is not easy to regurbish...but I feel it necessary. Good service and good breakfast. I apreciated the alarm clock with iPhone six connector.

Staying in Bela Vista

Neighborhood Profile
Bela Vista
Known for its Italian cantinas, Bela Vista is the place to go for great pasta. Also called “Bixiga”, the area is an important cultural part of the city, with the bohemian and the religious costumes of its inhabitants on full display. In August, the large Nossa Senhora Achiropita party fills the streets with a variety of Italian food and music. You can experience the liveliness of the neighborhood walking through the antiquities fair at Dom Orione Square or visiting the “Brazilian Caminito”, a version of the Argentinian street complete with colorful buildings. Bela Vista is also home to the traditional samba school “Vai-Vai”. Buy a ticket to a rehearsal and get a taste of what Carnival is like.
