I have stayed in more than 200 hotels but I can't forget this hotel in my life. Upon arrival the big long hall was full of black plastic bags (arounf 50-60) and it was so stinking, I would vomit. I think it was tobacco item. This hotel seems to be cheap choice of street howkers or small vendors. The hotel... More

Average hotel in an average SP neighborhood. Don't expect anything grand...more like a hostel/hotel with some questionable customers as expected in this area. Good value compared to the rest. Friendly and honest staff. No parking but there's a bunch of lots across the street for $R14/night. There's a big well known club called D-Edge nearby. The club sucks on most... More

This is a realy good place to see the whole of Centro on foot from, plus there are plenty of... More

We booked 4 nights at this city centre hotel at a reduced rate through hostelworld... it should be rated a 2 or 3 star hotel, definitely NOT a hostel, Spacious rooms (we had a three room apartment to sleep 6 for two of us); although, on arrival, the immediate environment is disappointing do not be put off, once inside it... Staying in Republica

Neighborhood Profile
Republica
Part of the historical center of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighborhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
