Spent one night here in what was described as a recently refurbished room. The staff were very pleasant but the rooms very basic, beds hard and the banging and knocking from the plumbing at 0230 and 0600 were unwelcome wake up calls. On the positive side the views from the gym/pool on the roof are great and a nice way... More

it is about 30 minutes taxi ride from the airport and in the middle of town. The staff and rooms are really quite good, the shower is strong! Breakfast was quite a smorgasbord of fruit, breads, cakes, meats, cheeses with scrambled eggs and hot dogs! WiFi if is fine and included in the price. If you turn right out of... More

From the outside you can see that is an old building. However, when you arrive at the hotel you are welcome by a well-dressed bell man. As you walk in the lobby, you get the impression that you are walking in a luxury hotel in an old building. The staff is very attentive and cordial. The rooms are a different... More

I spent 10 days in the hotel at the end of July. As I arrived for a science conference this was the best choice for me. The area is safe and the tourist attractions are close, there are some good shopping facilities near to the hotel. The staff was really helpful and well-organized. The building is clean and you have... More

This is a tradicional hotel. Usually it means a little bit of oldness. But what really matters is: location, cleanliness, safe rooms, a good value and, above all, an efficient and gentle staff. That´s it. That's Plaza São Rafael Hotel. Ok, breakfast is charmless and some rooms are old, but once at the hotel you will have a fantastic COO... More

This was a great Hotel, as expected being World Cup it was very busy. We moved swiftly into reception & with the large numbers of arrivals we were registered quite quickly. First impressions were the appearance & decore of the accommodation was high. After our late arrival need to stop at the bar which is very nice & staff were... More

Check in is extremely slow! But staff are helpful enough. Not all staff speak English so it was difficult at times. There are two wings to the hotel - one is very old and run down. If your room is greater than the 20s of each floor, than the chances are you will be in the old wing (e.g. 625... More

I stayed in this hotel for a seminar. Perfect for such kind of events: big dining rooms, good restaurant. Nice lobby. But my room was a bit small and cold. I was freezing while working in my room ! No system for heating.

Another World Cup hotel and the best way to rate it is in football terms Reception.definitely a yellow card Knowing they hAd such a large contingency of Aussie guests and other English speaking nations the had only 2 people who could understand English. Great preparation seeing they had 12 months minimum to plan. The Asian lady behind the counter helpful... More

We arrived at the Plaza Sao Rafael where we had prebooked and prepaid several months ago for a 3 night stay. On arrival at reception we were advised that the hotel was fully booked and there was no room available for us. The reception clerk advised that they had arranged for us to be transferred to another nearby hotel. We... More
