When looking for a special hotel for the last moments in Brazil with my girlfriend, I chose Gavea Tropical: the location and lay out seemed amazing. There was one room left on Hotels.com and I took it. I had previously double-checked the photos on the hotel’s official website which mentioned they had 6 rooms. However, I had the… 7th room!... My husband and I spent three nights in the hotel. The pros: - the staff: We arrived late in the city and the hotel arranged one of the staff to pick us up, which was great. Super helpful and speaking excellent English - the view: you open the window and you have the view on the city and Cristo -... More

My husband an I spent four lovely nights at this treasure of a hotel. It's charm was eclipsed only by the spectacular view from our balcony of Christ the Redeemer amidst the lush green of the forest. We chose it to get away from the touristy spots but have ready access to RJ's beach area and downtown. It did not... More

Gorgeous views from the hotel but a lot of things require significant improvement. The sheets were moldy and rather unpleasant to sleep in and breakfast is a serious recipe for a food poisoning. You can simply not leave the food out in the 35 degree heat, even if you put your yogurt on a few cubes of ice. All in... More

Excellent stay! completely different then all chain hotel which are a big chunk of the options in Rio. Staff very helpful in different ways, exceptional english which improves greatly for the suggestions provided to explore the city. Refined boutique in its own way, secluded from the noisy but lovely city. Has all the check boxes (wifi, balcony, hammock, pool, breakfast... More

A small, cozy hotel with great tropical forest, birds and a great view of Christ, the Redeemer. Pool, jacuzzi and massage in a peaceful corner of bustling Rio; and a team of people making sure you are well served; and all through a modest rate. I'll be back with my wife and friends.
