This was my 2nd stay at the Windsor Asturias Hotel. From Bell staff to room attendants the service has improved and is top notch now. Specially Anderson at the pool and breakfast room. If you want to experience real Brazilian breakfast, go to the Asturias. The "Rabanada" I had for breakfast brought me back to my childhood years in Rio.... More

After some of the other places we stayed in during our Brazil trip, this hotel lacked 'soul'. The room was OK, breakfast was OK, and it was very centrally located. The reception staff were OK, but less friendly and forthcoiming than in other places we stayed.

I spent a night in Copacabana and I was frustrated with the high prices, small rooms and sketchy people near the beach. So I decided to give downtown a chance even though people told me it's not the safest place on the weekends. But I found the Windsor Asturias Hotel a pleasant surprise. The rooms are three times bigger than... More

This hotel is located near the financial and theatre districts of Rio. If you want to go to Ipanema or Copacabana, there is a metro station around the corner and one-way trip to the beaches will cost you 3.50 Reais or less than $ 2.00. By cab, the cost will be around $ 12 to $ 16. The hotel provides... More

Walls were none existent as far as noise was concerned. When the guy in the room next took a shower it sounds like an air conditioner motor was in our room. This is no exaggeration. We had 4 nights here leading up to the fifa final, the room was fine but the lift noise was shocking every movement of the lift rang through the room (1801) the air con was the only thing that drowned out the noise of the lift as that sounded like a child's bike with a lolly stick hitting the spokes.... I stayed here during the World Cup final weekend. The hotel is a very decent 3 star hotel. The location isn't great for tourism as it's a good 30 min away from the beaches. I was in Rio de Janeiro during the quarterfinals of the World Cup (Germany vs. France) and needless to say the occupancy rate was very high and many hotels were gouging guests with inflated prices. I found a very good deal (about $175 a night) for Windsor Asturias and thought it was either a bait-and-switch or just a lousy hotel.... More
