I traveled to Rio at least 100 times on business, and this hotel was the worst I've ever been to. Staff were rude and the place is old, dirty and stinky. This time I tried this place for the location, but I discovered that at night it becomes really noisy for some close pubs. Nevermore.

Avoid it like a plague. Old, dirty, unsafe. That's the words to describe it. The location is good, but that's the only good thing about this place. Also the staff isn't honest, they try to overcharge you especially if you are a foreign. Honestly advise: don't stay there!!!

Although the check-in was a little rough due to problems with Expedia's communication/info, the staff seemed a little overwhelmed, uneasy and borderline rude in the beginning. After all was sorted and hour later (this is Brazil after all), it was a descent experience/value for the price. Don't let the dated hotel lobby decor detour you as the rooms were well... More

The manger of this hotel is the Italian agent of the Italian owners, and IF they had any brain cells among them they would send him packing back wherever he came from. This man is a menace to society. He screamed at my husband for about 15 minutes in 3 languages, he insulted us, all Americans, his own employees, and... More

First issue - I stayed with several other friends and at least 3 of us have had fraudulent charges made in Rio on the credit card we used to pay for the hotel immediately after our stay. Hopefully they figure out who the thief on the staff is but even then, it's not worth the risk. On to the actual... More

Stayed at this hotel with my family last week for one night while on holidays in Portugal, and so glad it was just one night. How could I've not read the reviews here??! Huge mistake staying here. Very basic room with uncomfortable bed. Paper-thin walls, bad windows so you hear every bus going by. Bathroom was grotty and had a horrid odor from the drains all the time. Some staff try, but in general poor. For R$75 more a night there are loads more options... More

Just tried to make a booking for new years. According to their website, 50% have to be paid on confirmation and the 50% balance by 1st of Dec. It states, clearly, that the package can be paid by all credit cards. When questioned about the credit card form to be filled, Mr Roberto informed they only accepted deposits and dared... More

LOCATION This hotel is located about half way between Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. This means it is far away from the seedy north end of Copacabana and closer to the better restaurants, bars etc. Of course, since it is between the beaches, not on the beach you have to walk a few hundred metres in either direction to see any... This hotel is a total rip off or scam with a very bad customer service, i cancelled my reservation 15 days prior to my scheduled arrival and they charged to my credit card 50% approx. $1200 for cancelling what it was not stated at booking.com. Be careful and don't book anything at this hotel !!!!

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
