Had such a great time at this place! Despite a hiccup being picked up from the airport which we managed to sort out in the end, we really enjoyed this place. It's super close to the beach & surf lessons in the morning were great fun! There is a mall close by for groceries, shopping & food OR head into... More

Despite being only one of two guests, the staff were completely attentive and very friendly. As the owner of a surf camp myself, this gets a full 5-star rating. Can't beat the vicinity to the beach, the price of accomodations (they have a full range: from surfer-style affordability to private-room a/c), and, I must again mention the great staff. Very... We spent 10 days at Rio surf and stay and we had really great time there. I have read the reviews before I booked, and I was little afraid about the negative things I read. I was searching a lot for accomodation and surf rental in Rio on reasonable price, close to the spots and they had far the best... More

I will not have a bad word said about this place! Yes I didn't realise how far it was from Rio de Janeiro... BUT - it turned out even better than I expected. It's so homely, safe, friendly and relaxing! I'm from one of the busiest cities in the world, London! I didn't get to see Carnival at all in... More

I'm French and decided to take surf lessons here for two weeks and it was still not enough, you get addicted to this bohemian life and the kindness and professionalism of... More

I stayed at the surf n stay for 16 days and I loved every minute of it. It's located by some great and not very crowded beaches, the nearest one is just a five minute walk from the hostel. The atmosphere is amazing not at least thanks to the wonderful staff in the reception and the surf instructors. If you... More

Unfortunately we got extremely sun burnt on our first day so we had to spend the remaining two days out of the sun which meant we couldn't go surfing and that said theres nothing else to do in Macumba area. We were meant to camp but they had a problem with the rain and the grounds for camping but I... More

Positives: Excellent location for surfing, close to best and most consistent spots. Friendly staff, enthused about surf and super helpful, laid-back. Good breakfast and free wireless internet that worked nicely when I was there. Unbeatable price. Sunday morning was quiet and peaceful. Negatives: One hour taxi ride from airports or south Rio (Ipanema, Lagoa, Gavea) where the fun and best... More
