This pousada exceeded our expectations. The location was in historic Santa Teresa a 20 minute walk down hill to the Metro. Our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was delecious. Most importantly the staff were extremely helpful. We felt very comfortable walking everywhere and with so many restaraunts just down the road.Would highly recommend this pousada.

we where in castelinho during 4 days with our 4yo daughter during a trip we made through Brazil. I just can't tell you how lucky we felt! the choice was ideal! a wonderful building in a perfect neighborhood. our room (i think it was called jabuticaba, or something like that) was air-conditioned, big, clean, very quiet and with a wonderful... This hotel is either a very good backpackers hotel, or a very very poor boutique hotel, depending on what you expect for the price. What we got was a small but adequate room, but very dark with just a small side window, so lights on all the time. No aircon, just a fan, so hot. Miniscule bathroom, poorly maintained- plug... More

This hotel really exceeded our expectations. We booked here only for one night as we were flying out the next morning, but I wish we had stayed longer. Our room was very spacious and clean, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the views of the city from the breakfast terrace were amazing! The old building is gorgeous to walk... More

We are extremely disapointed with our stay there. Picture this: in the middle of the night someone woke us up after having walked into our room saying that he was staying there! He had the key of the room! It was our 10th wedding aniversary we were celebrating and you all reading this can imagine how bad we felt!! There... More

We only had one night at Castelinho 38 but loved It! It had charm and character and was in a superb location to explore the delights of Santa Teresa... We'd love to go back. Breakfast on the terrace was simple but delicious, with amazing views ovet ST and beyond...

We recently staid at hotel Castelinho. The place is amazing in a charming old castle nicely situated in Santa Teresa. People are very nice and welcoming... but our room was so small that we couldn't let our case open. We only had cold water in the bathroom (just a dodgy electric heater on top of the shower that provides mild... More

We stayed for 4 nights in June 2012 and loved our time here. It's a perfect base to explore Santa Teresa and Lapa and also a very relaxed and welcoming place to hang out, day or night. As per some of the previous comments, the breakfast terrace, and the breakfast itself, was outstanding. Fantastic views and a very peaceful place... More

This was our second stay in Rio, we previously stayed in Mama Ruisa just down the road in Sta Teresa and found that this was much better value for money, quiter and more relaxed with children. Santa Teresa is a great part of town, quirky and interesting with some good restaurants less than 5 mins walk from the hotel. Rooms... More

The terrace is outstanding, taking in the view over breakfast and coffee - no better way to start the day - or a caipirinha - no better way to end a wonderful day. The room is charming and somewhat basic (I stayed in Samambaia) so is the bathroom facilities but I did enjoy it. Breakfast is fresh and tasty, not... More
